Hello.
Just for fun I want to replace led with 20mm star in a light bulb. There is diffuser and 5V on the led. Solid metal housing, so no problem with heat.
What led could I use in that case? I want warm, strong light.
Mike
What is it powered by?
Battery or Power Supply?
I think it’s a literal light bulb which will be plugged screwed into a socket.
So this is 3 or 6 V led?
It’s a light bulb. 5V on the diode. Fried diode.
Mike
Never heard of a 5v LED. Try replacing it with a 6v emitter and see what happens. XHP50.3 for example. If it doesn’t light up, try a cheap 3v emitter to see if it blows up.
Connect some 6v led and see , or just some cheap 3v. If it burns it burns ;))
B35AM might be a good choice
Looks like old Edison type led, pay little attention to voltage, leds are driven by current, as long as current is in the range voltage can be a bit higher, photon keychain lights run on 6v with simple 5mm led. but 2 2016 cells can not provide dangerous current, so they run fine on 6v.
Try to replace it with xml/xml2 , xpl1/2… basically any 3v led, assuming the driver is controlling the current correctly and was not the reason why led failed in a first place, it should work.
