LED test / review - Fireflylite FFL350RD (3500 K 96 CRI) - good beam, rectangular classic LED chip but with round cut-out!

That’s what I expected - and that’s unfortunate for me, since these sellers are not available here in Germany (and buying stuff from Taobao is absolut pain in ass here)…

If I could find a convenient and safe way to ship stuff to Germany, I’d also like to share these crazy manufacturer or personal custom emitter, but I can’t. I don’t know if Simon will provide purchasing services, since the shipping fee for personal is too expensive, about 60 USD.

From which country you are from? Maybe shipping as simple letter is a way to go?

Just China, it’s just that I don’t have any experience sending anything overseas, it seems that any form of delivery is not cheap, and I’m not sure if the EU will impose taxes on any form of shipment.

1 Thank

Please do share the source for this! This looks like just what I have been hoping to exist!

Every EU country applies VAT to any incoming order - 19% of the declared value incl. shipping for Germany. If the total value (shipping + wares) is <150€ that’s it. If it is above, customs fees and handling fees are added on top and it gets a pain in the arse and expensive.

But <150€ it’s not too bad, and in the case of Germany you can usually either pay to the courier directly, or pick it up and pay in the next post office.

These two links on Taobao and Xianyu. If you use image search, images can also be a source.

But to be honest I’m not optimistic about them, there must be a reason why almost no one is selling these weird emitters. If they are not the latest technology chips from Sanan, I don’t think it is particularly meaningful. I’m still waiting for the “Sanan 6V version SFT40” with 4x43mil dies.

3 Thanks

IIRC LatticePower used to be one of the bigger manufacturers of knockoff Cree emitters, perhaps it is actually being made by LatticePower or whoever they buy dies from (the die, not the substrate or phosphor).

Also, I’m loving these emitter teardown photos, it’s always cool to see the construction of the dies and substrate up close.

That is exactly what I hope for, though ideally with a rounded die area for use in TIR optics.

Sad to hear that this might not be that.
6V12A sounds impressive though - but likely inefficient?

I know the company LatticeBright (have old screenshots from their site), but I don’t know if it was renamed to LatticePower to manufacture the recent emitters.
LatticePower still produces knockoffs, but these are way better as the early knock off types (from 2012 to 2016).

This led is marked as XHP90 but also SBT-90. A round SBT90 from official documents is not listed. XHP90 usually has a dome but they have various versions and they all look different

Has this one ever been tested?

Not as far as I know.

However, these LEDs (as well as other strange emitters) are virtually unavailable in Germany because many Aliexpress dealers do not (or can no longer) deliver to Germany. Taobao is a case in itself anyway, I don’t even want to do that to myself.

(Sorry if I am going slightly off topic.)
Got this round die 9090 the other day, pleasant tint, no beam artifacts.

It has some sort of glass on top of the die, kind of like the Yinding glass 5050.

Not high CRI but tint is pleasant, reminiscent of my XP-E 4A’s tint, it is more magenta than red. Duv isn’t that negative from my LM3 measurement (-0.0005), but to my eyes it definitely is rosier than that (LM3 error maybe).

As always there are bascially no specs about this LED, all I know is that it’s 4000K and 9090 footprint.

In an Amutorch ? looks identical to the “RC90” used in the Amutorch XT45 and XT60 : Amutorch XT45 RC90 review | Thrower flashlight with 3500 lumens | 1Lumen.com
Direct driven it does 2000lm at turn on.
A random youtuber calls it “Lattice Power RC90” but nothing on Latticepower website.

hmm, yeah, weird, a couple sellers have this one but indeed they don’t ship to Germany.

I got the emitter from Starfish (they also sell flashlight and hosts). But I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s same exact emitter used in the Amutorch offerings.

I wonder if it’s possible to drop some emitters into an envelope and ship it internationally…

There is new HT35 round LED on Kaidomain but it’s not exactly the same as I thought it would be. Sadly after teardown it stopped working so couldn’t get it show if all square lights up or only round thing in the center. They’re 1.5$/pcs so very nice. But no datasheet as usual.

1 Thank

If you remove all the phosphor you should be able to see if the die is round.

2 Thanks

Yes I did and it’s perfectly round
