LEDs & Other Stuff - (Reference Guide)

No, this forum doesn't feature such a thing. In fact, this is the first time I hear something like that…

Do you know how to use an internet browser? That is, the software program you use to open this forum and any other internet sites. Bookmarking a page has always been a function provided by browsers. Open your browser menu, and click/tap on “add to bookmarks”: this bookmarks the page you are viewing.

In fact, it still is the browser who makes such a thing. Are you going to tell me you can't bookmark pages that don't feature some sort of “atrocious” javascript command embedded somewhere as a button or something like that to instill the browser to do such a thing? There are myriads of pages that don't have these things you are speaking of.

I love this old style forum in every aspect, by the way.

How about the Subscribe button at the end of the first post? Then it will be in your list of “My Subscriptions” on the left panel.

THAT was the most impressive post I have ever seen.
Looks like I will be spending a lot on paper and ink printing it off.
GOOD WORK !

What is this animal?

This led is bigger than xpg, supposedly 900 lumens, looks like the xb-h with doped base.

My guess is either a new cree led, 2021, based on the xb-h. Or an oversized Chinese knock off of the xb-h. Probably 6500K. In a $34 headlamp zoomie sold in stores near you in the USA.

For some reason, the idea of rings appeals to me over segments. I am not sure why; but possibly the notion that hotspot shaping or better focusing (via ring intensity) might be achieved using these stacked disk designs. It is almost like you could merely add rings for higher current leds without changing the throw of the inner rings. Also, the wiring could allow jumpers that could allow a person to disable rings for a throw, flood, color shift, or change efficiency. Just a gut feeling of the possiblities.

Really great work and I’m glad CRX periodically revisits to update (original post in 2013, last update mid 2020).

The new Cree XP-P… which emitter does it most closely resemble in terms of die size and output?

XP-P is a 3535 package with 1.1mm² square die. Most similar in appearance to Osram CSLNM1.TG

Thank you for this thread!
I have an older flashlight with the SSC P7 LED. I want to upgrade it, but I want to know which LED emitter is the same sized clear dome so it will fit perfectly with my reflector that was made for the SSCP7?

Thanks!!!
