Hi fellow forum members. I would appreciate if you can point me to some options on budget LEGO flashlight platform. My 4-years old son is crazy about flashlights and want to give me nice toy to play with. And I don’t have enough experience with flashlights to find the right one.
Here are some criteria:
- “LEGO” so my son could disassemble/assemble, add extension tube, belt clip, maybe zoomable head, diffuser etc. This of course assumes accessories should be available (at least extension tube, belt clip, diffuser).
- quality should be acceptable. Something like UltraFire, other-Fires. Not crappy no-name stuff. Of course SolarForce type of quality would probably be overkill as it comes with price.
- pricewise: I have SolarForce L2P and it’s too expensive to use as a toy that most likely will be killed sooner or later, so I’m looking into something around $20 for the host + basic drop-ins. And cheap accessories.
safety: low lumens out of the box or available as replacement module.
you do realize that a black SF host is like ~$20 shipped to your home? (Link). Welcome to BLF!
All's you need is a low power drop-in. It's a great host and my 4 year old also loves lights. But I don't let him play with my bright ones, like you were saying. I let him use an old Scorpion with Xenon bulb - though I'm not saying to get that.
It's late I may add more later if I find some drop-ins and accessories.
@MRTdiver - thank you for the links. Yes SF L2 platform is OK, however accessories seem to be overprices a little. Are there any other options? Like UF WF-504B or 501B? Are they compatible with L2 so I could buy 501b or 504b part and use them with SF L2 host?
