Let's Talk Bias Lighting for TVs/Monitors

I'm not sure if this is the appropriate sub-forum, but there seems to be a few threads on general home lighting here already.

I'm interested in a bias lighting setup that can be attached behind a wall-mounted TV. Currently, the TV is on a stand with a regular CFL lamp behind it shining at the wall. However, this will not be possible on a wall-mounted set without causing lots of glare. I'm interested in some budget-friendly solutions that won't fail after a couple months. The setup must have a high CRI with a reasonably neutral color temp; I don't require the ideal 6500K as long as the CRI is high, but it must be fairly neutral (something around 4000K-6500K).

I currently have the CinemaQuest Ideal-Lume for the living room TV and love it, but the cost is a bit prohibitive in this situation. I've tried the Antec Halo(?) on a computer display before and found it to be way too blurple.

Anybody care to share their budget bias lighting ideas? I've seen mention of Ikea and generic LED strip lights, but I have no experience with either and saw mention of reliability issues with LED strip lights form several years ago. I'm not opposed to some DIY, but anything more than a bit of soldering would probably be over my head.

LED strip/tape lights would be perfect for you but you said you wanted high CRI… Typical LED strip/tape has a CRI of 80 or somewhere around that (like a CFL) but you can boost that by adding other colored tape, like red.

Thanks, I ordered both warm white and neutral white strip LEDs. I'll have to wait and see what the tint lotto brings, with descriptions, reviews, and pictures being all over the place on actual tints. As long as the warm white set isn't yellow, it should fit the bill.

If neither set is good enough, I can always pick up the Ikea Dioder, which seems to be much more consistent with tint and quality control.
