Ok this isn’t a flashlight but a carrier, and a do it yourself part, so this is where I thought it belongs. I decided to build a carry case for some of my flashlight that would have everything I need to grab it and go, like fishing, hunting camping, or whatever. This is what I came up with. It is made of Red Cedar and has all you would need to take with you including a 2 cell intelli-charger and batteries to fit any light I have.
My own case is used/planned more as a Bug Out Bag addition.
I found a narrow, 2” wide aluminum carry case originally designed as a Poker Chip case.
I pulled out the chip holders, and put in some 1” egg crate tyle foam on both sides.
The narrow case with the foam provides enough friction to hold the lights in place for a quick, “close it, latch it, and go” adventure
Sorry but this is a 1 of a kind build, not that I don’t enjoy woodworking mind you, I have a lot of back issues with severe spinal arthritis though, and I never know when I can get out to shop and when I can’t, especially in colder months. There is also the fact that if I don’t have the light or lights that are going in the box to make them fit exactly then it will never come out just right and that’s a lot of time just shipping and all. There is a chance I will be building a limited number (much smaller boxes) for an upcoming event for this forum. IF decide to go through and give a definite yes, then there will be some meticulously purpose built boxes that some will have a chance to get their hands on. I do appreciate the compliments from everyone though.
The Mesh in the bottom and in the corners, and under the batteries, is actually a rubber padding, the top has foam that comes down just to the top of the batteries. The flashlights are held against the bottom firmly and will not move with the wooden cut outs for each one and Velcro across the top them.
That is wonderfully made, congratulations on your fantastic skills!!
And being such a beautiful case with such a great content, that really classifies as the Flashaholic’s Holy Treasure Chest!
Lovely craftsmanship. I wish I had the skills to build something like that from scratch. Ikea and lego is about my limit!
Is that fire-retardant wood with all those Li-Ions
Also, just thinking - is that metal chain (used for the lid retention) short enough that it can't short any of the cells, when it's slack and moving about inside the box?
Good catch on the chain, I had concerns about that myself. the chain is made with flat links that move straight forward and back with very little side to side motion. I decided for the moment I will not use the end hole for the 26650 cell and if I guide the chain to start when closing the lid it will rest in that hole. I will be changing that out with a small folding arm that is rigid other than a single swivel point in the center though.
