Was just throwing out a feeler to see if anyone would be interested in help modding lights. I have modded everything from mags, to single aa, to p60 drop ins, and have performed prob 50 mods. I do not have the machining or electrical skills of some on here, but am learning more and more. Posted a thread on one build from CPF to give an idea of some of the things I do. I see a lot of people on here with mags and other lights that want to mod them, but do not have the equipment or the knowledge to do it. It does not cost an arm and a leg to do mods on most lights esp. if you already have batts to use in them.
I am not doing this for money, but to try to help those that need or want lights modded. I do not always have the time to do mods so there may be a wait of a week or 2 till I can get it done. Mag mods, and drop in mods are a piece of cake. Just built the wife a 3C mag that runs on alkaline batts with an xpg that throws like crazy and has great runtime for about 11 bucks in parts. I was amazed at how this light turned out, it impresses everyone who sees it, even flashaholics.
You can supply the parts or I can buy them, cost will be parts plus shipping. I am a little hesitant about being flooded with requests and not being able to keep up, but will do my best.
Feel free to post questions and I will answer them the best I can.
Yeah, much cheaper to just make heatsink from aluminum than it is to buy them. Actually, you may be able to make one from bar stock without a lathe, but is much easier with one.
question for you... refer HERE for a little info/pics
i have this counterfeit[?] Romisen RC-C6. as you can see in the pic, i can disassemble it completely. i believe the silver disk with the led on it would be the pill? first time i completely disassembled a light like this. it screws in to the main tube.
heres my questions.
is this safe to run on li-ion? how can i tell?
i would like to make it infinitely adjustable. would that be impossible/too hard?
if i cant do #2, what would be a good driver to put in this for atleast h-m-l with memory. strobe would be ok but need to be a hidden mode
Hard to tell if it is safe to run on li ion. It being a knockoff there is no way to tell what it has for a driver.
Infinitely adjustable is prob doable but not by me in a light that small and certainly not for cheap. There are people who could do it, but do not know what it would take. The drivers in the other thread are good, just have to decide if you want li ion only or the ability to run nimh/alkalines. I like the 7135 drivers with one li ion, esp if the led has a low vf. It all depends on how much you wanna spend, but if it were mine I would change the driver to one of the ones mentioned in your linked thread and go from there.
