I have been around lights long enough to have figured it out; it isn’t always just throw or brightness that tickles me, but lightweight and easy-to-carry lights. It’s obvious that when a light is too long, one quits carrying it during the daily grind, but it’s not so obvious with weight. You’ve got to have something tug at your waistline or cargo pocket everyday for a while and bang on doors taking corners to get that. So I have decided my emphasis should be even more so on portability. For this reason, I’ve decided not to buy the TN31 and other such powerhouses. Just as with price, there has got to be a practical limit to what is carried. I’m waiting for someone to make an HD2010-sized reflector in a glorified C8ish form-factor. I’m probably going to drop another 18650 in the 2010 instead of the 22650 it now uses just for this reason.

So what are your lightest-weight lights? Is this true for you? Do you find yourself relying more on the less gravationally challenged ones?

I find that the ones I use the most are the 501B U2 XM-L on copper at 3 amps from Inlt Outdoors, the C6 Q5 thrower cheapie from BiCs (with car and wall charger), the 980L, the Manafont C8 XM-L, the trusty KE-5, and (until last week) the UF V3.

Actually I find the same thing. Not only weight, but also size/shape. I'm quite partial to carrying a light clipped in my front left pocket, and if the light is too thick or has those god-awful hexagonal anti roll edges beveled into the head it's a no-go... hence the reason I could not stand carrying the SC600. That's why lights like the S-mini or more recently, the EagleTac D25LC2, are the lights that get the most pocket time from me.

Uf-v3 at the moment, it just fits nice in the screwdriver pocket of my work pants.

I have high hopes of my edc18650 when the new driver arrives. I’ve also found myself considering 14500 cells recently, something I said I wouldn’t do.

I like relatively compact flashlights. :)

I thought my UniqueFire UF-2100 was pretty lightweight... until I got my Xeno E03 XM-L! (That light pumps out a lot of lumens per ounce.)

I'm glad that the UltraFire 980L is on your list, Rusty Joe, because I recently ordered a 980L clone. And it can be tough to tell how big a flashlight is without having it in one's hands. <---I think I stole that sentence from someone else. Will the rightful owner of sentence #5 please claim their property? Otherwise we're giving it to the raccoon. ;)

The sc600 is plenty small to go in to your pocket. Especially considering the output you get from it. I took the clip off right away, only like clips on AA lights.

Kreisler, thanks for keeping me in check. You're right, it was a type-o. I COULD NOT stand to carry it... the big head would not sit down far enough in my pocket, and the damn anti roll device started to wear on me. Boo....
