Looking for a couple Drivers !

I am looking for a couple special Drivers for some projects.

- a 12 volt, single mode, that can drive an XML well. ( 2.5A or higher ) can be of any size diameter driver.

- and a Multi-mode with Firefly/Moon mode, low, med & Hi, ( preferably with no annoying strobe or SOS mode) that can run from the 0.9 volt to 4.5 volt range. ( run from a single D-Size 1.5 volt Alcaline to to 32650 LithiumIon at the 4.2 volt range.) preferalbly in the 17mm size range.

i seen drivers somewhere that is in these ranges, but can;t remember where i seen them online.

i guess these drivers don’t exist then if nobody know where to find them. :stuck_out_tongue:

I got one of these in the mail today, and from a quick bench experiment it is VERY nice. No blinkies, not that I have been able to find, anyway. It has the most beautiful, smooth, stepless dimming I have ever seen in something that didn't have a knob on it, just press & hold and it fades up or down and gives a double blink at the top and bottom of the range. And excellent build quality.

For the second one, this (http://intl-outdoor.com/1a-2755v-buckboost-circuit-board-p-674.html) claims to be buck-boost, but the low end of the voltage range doesn't look like I'd expect for a boost-capable driver.

And then this (http://dx.com/p/17mm-1000ma-5-mode-with-mode-memory-leddriver-circuit-board-for-cree-xr-e-emitters-0-9-4-5v-input-15880) at DX.

Those look good, the only problem is the first one has a side-switch connection and is multi-modes, and the others dont have a firefly mode with the voltage range to run off of a 1.5 volt cell and higher. the projects im building are specific to the needs of drivers i am looking for without any luck so far in finding them. :weary:

It possible that you could find a driver that uses a MCU for modes and disable it, to give you one mode for the XM-l.
This is all I found for the XM-L.

For the boost driver, no luck. Never seen one with those specifications.
Might find something here useable.

Technically the first one isn't multi modes, it's just infinitely variable brightness. A single short press turns on or off, press & hold ramps up or down. If you never give it a long press it always comes on at the brightness it was at when last turned off.

The variable brightness mode is interesting. thanks

I sort of was expecting it to be a difficult driver to find. So far the only light i seen that driver availiable in is the new Oligth S15 Baton, it has the moonlight mode and can run off a 1.5 volt alcaline up to a 14500.

That be one heck of a expensive driver to get.
If you can find a driver that has the spec’s you would like except for the modes. Dr.jones might be able to help. Depends on the MCU used. He might be your only other option.
Something like this maybe.

That one looks very interesting. When you have a chance, can you please post XML emitter amps with 2 and then 3 cells? I hope this really provides 5A.

4.2v (1p) 2.67a
4.2v (2p) 2.80a
8.4v (2s) 3.60a
12.6v (3s) 4.03a
16.8v (4s) 4.07a

Thanks comfychair. The current is actually a lot better than I had expected. At 38mm x 12mm, its rather large. I wonder if it will fit the ZY-T13; for those with broken drivers.

Any plans for resistor mods?

I haven't even looked at it close enough to see how it works yet.

The upper board is connected to the lower with 5 pins, it might be possible to rearrange things to make it more compact. It is rather large...
