Looking for a Ganzo G713 review

I’ve been looking for a decent sized ganzo knife with a liner or a back lock. I am not a huge axis lock fan (although I have a ganzo 704)
because they seem to develop some blade play. So when I saw g713 added to fasttech store I got exited.
I tried to find g713 reviews with google or youtube but I only found a couple in russian.

So does anyone have any experience with this knife ? I would like to hear some opinions before I buy a bunch of them.
Here is a link for the knife: http://www.fasttech.com/products/0/10001878/1283900-ganzo-g713-stainless-steel-camping-gift-folding-kn

Thanks for the answers

Hi Strai,

I don’t remember reading reviews about that one, in or out the forum :frowning: . Anyway, if you want a medium/large folder, check out in exduct , they’ve a larger selection. Srm carries some back locks, but i think they’re smaller than the size you want. People around here seem to be very happy with the Enlan 01 Enlan EL-01. Outstanding knife

I would definitely recommend the Enlan EL-01 if you want a larger locking knife. It really should cost a lot more than it does. Fit and finish of Enlan and Sanrenmu knives are better than Ganzo too.

Thanks for your answer Flacomuchacho.
I am lucky enough to already have an Enlan 01. The EL-01 is really a beast but I hate the unusual pivot screw.
I already have a bunch of bigger Enlan/Bee knives and I am searching for a bigger Ganzo knife like I said earlier.
I prefer Fasttech because it has free shipping. Last time I bought a knife from exduct the shipping was like 6$ and
that is almost as much as a cheap enlan em-01. It’s weird that I can only find little information about the G713.
I guess it might be a newer model or something like that.

I have the 713 on the way. I read a few good things about it somewhere, maybe on bladeforums? Can’t remember. I like that style of knife though, so I took a chance on it.
If you can hold a couple of weeks, I’ll let you know how it is.

Ganzo G713 is rather new model which is why there are not so many reviews yet.

If you want a larger Ganzo without an axis lock there are not too many choises though. It is practically a choise between 713 (back lock) or the very new 714 (with a tanto blade and liner lock).

SRM (Land) has some nice larger choises in the 900-series that are available (for example 908 with plain edge and 913P if you like partial serration).

Have Sanrenmu started producing the 900 series again? I understood that for legal reasons they’d discontinued their larger knives.

No idea if the available ones are old stock or not. 901, 907, 908 can be found at eg. Aliexpress or eBay and Exduct has few models available.

I considered picking up a 713, but paused to wonder at the purpose of the exposed liners at the rear of the handle. I have liner locks with no scales and they are very slim for front pocket carry, but not as comfortable in hand as the somewhat thicker full scaled models. So, the jury is still out for me on this design.

There are only two knives of the 900 series, which are produced at the moment (as I know):
Sanrenmu 939 only the black version and Sanrenmu 913P.

Exduct wrote something about the fake Sanrenmu series a longer time ago:
http://www.exduct.com/sanrenmu-news/sanrenmucom-is-not-the-official-sanrenmu-srm-knives-webiste.html

Don’t know, if the are genuine and only old stock or fakes.

Thanks relic38
I’ll probably wait for your first impressions before buying one or two of those knives.
I like the 713 design as well. I wonder if those exotic looking extended liners are meant to function
as a glass breaker or are they there just for looks.

I like Ganzo but this G713 design looks like a loser. I like the tip up carry but the saber ground blade will be a disappointing slicer. They never cut as well as a full flat ground or deep hollow ground blade.

The Navy K-631 is a nice back lock full size knife.

I got one a few days ago. Finish on all my other Ganzos is better (and I have all models 701-713 so far). It is not bad, but it does not feel like well finished knife with quality.

Handle feels too rectangular and quite small (and I have average to small hand size). I get good grip on it though. I don’t fancy the design either.

It locks reliably, but without oiling and adjusting it is too stiff to flick open with the thumb. No blade play and the sharpening is quite average (if you think Ganzos are normally good).

I’d not recommend this knife from the Ganzo series unless you’re a collector like myself and happen to have a full series with this one missing. (Well, now the 714 and 715 are missing from my collection too).

See, I have mine and I think it’s OK. I’m not a knife collector so I do not know what to look for. I’ll take a closer look at mine to see if I can spot the things you noticed. It might help me look in the right places in the future.

The G714 is nice - have it since a week. The design looks like the Land Sanrenmu GB-901, which I want for a long time, but the production stopped a few years ago. If you like a tanto blade, it would be a possible choice.
