Looking for a thin 1xAA flashlight with clicky. Price about $30

Looking for a good EDC for a gift. After knowing a bunch of non-flashlight people, I know what they want and what they don’t like.

It should have the following features:

1. Pocket clip

2. beam that is more throwy than flood

3. Forward clicky

4. 1-2 modes. People get annoyed when they have to fiddle with the light to get to high which is what they use 99% of the time. The other modes just get in the way of them using their light.

5. Be thin as possible. I never understood why so many manufacturers take a 1xAA light and add so much extra girth. By thin I mean like Maglight mini thin. They have been doing it for decades but nobody else seems to grasp the concept that a AA should be thin.

Sunwayman R10A

Klarus from banggood 22$ ??

forward clicky makes this tuff

maybe easier to get forward clickies and swap them out on lights you like

Lumapower LM21.

Has three modes but can be a 2 mode because the modes are: low, high, crazy. With a Efest 10440 that is.

With a normal battery it is low, high, slightly higher. And always starts on low. So one click for low, half click then click for high.

Quite floody and quite thin. I love mine

which lights have you ALREADY been looking at?

#2 and #5 make this tough too. Can't do throwy AND thin.

It’s hard to do forward clicky and thin. I have an MT1A which fits that bill, but it’s more than one mode and probably still more than $30.

How about a Jetbeam BA10? Sounds perfect for you but it’s not especially thin. But it is right around 30 bucks with a forward switch, and it’s only two mode.

Or maybe an Eagletac D25A clicky? It’s really thin, but also more than 30 bucks and it’s reverse clicky.

The V11R is fairly thin with an AA extender, but nowhere near 30 bucks.

I just realized you said throwy and double aa. Forget everything I said

The Klarus P1A and Jetbeam BA-10 are known to me. I have both and like them but they are a little larger than they need to be and not particually throwy. Just wondering if there was something similar but thinner and more throwy.

Just picked up a solarforce Z2…

I look at spec requests like job postings. As long as you’ve got 40% of what they’re asking for, you’re golden. :stuck_out_tongue:

1. Pocket clip
Yes!

2. beam that is more throwy than flood
Nope.

3. Forward clicky
Nope

4. 1-2 modes. People get annoyed when they have to fiddle with the light to get to high which is what they use 99% of the time. The other modes just get in the way of them using their light.
Nope. 4 modes from high->moonlight, always starts on high

5. Be thin as possible. I never understood why so many manufacturers take a 1xAA light and add so much extra girth. By thin I mean like Maglight mini thin. They have been doing it for decades but nobody else seems to grasp the concept that a AA should be thin.
Kinda. It’s as thin as I’d want aluminum to be without feeling cheap.
