looking for AA flashlight with long run time

Some relatives had a power outage and in future could use a flashlight to replace candles that has a long run time on AA batter(ies), but only has one mode, preferably 8 hours or more
One mode is ideal, they will get confused and run it on high and run out of light because they didn’t realize it was on high or remember how to use modes.

I use this light as my night light. Tail cap reading is around 200ma. A single AA rechargeable Eneloop lasts around 8 hours. It never gets hot and brightness stays about the same. Its bright enough to get tasks done but won’t light up a room.

It’s lasted a little over two months of being contentiously on around 8 hour a day and still going strong.

Not bad for less than $3 delivered.

There are Maglite Led lights that last more than 8 hours as well. I am sure someone more knowledgeable will chime in.

Klarus P1A is quite good. Apparently. But it has 2 modes.

The generic “sk-68 type” light I had ran a little less than two hours on an AA Eneloop. Tail cap reading was around 1.1A.

It ran hot after about 20min or so.

Get them an E01. Horrible tint and low output, but simple, long 10 hour runtime and nearly indestructible.

Bort im guessing you have a Dollarama nearby, i picked up a handfull of those LED camping lanterns for 2 bucks each, and have two modes, run for roughly 20 hours on high and 50 hours on low with 3 AA Alcalines. i use them camping and they all work great. I even modded a couple of them with a 3 mode driver and better CREE emiter. They look like this: http://i00.i.aliimg.com/photo/v2/294979050/mini_portable_3_AA_camping_light_camping.jpg_220x220.jpg

As for a single AA light, most of those generic “police 3W” flashlights we see selling for 2 or 3 bucks last for 4 to 6 hours on a single battery, and with a home-made diffuser is brighter than candles.

A Gerber Infinity Ultra Task Light won’t fail them.

The “police” light will run on single AA for days. I put and old alkaline into it, that stopped working in my wireless mouse, and after 8 hrs it still kept going.
