I want a second D battery charger to go with my ancient Powerex MH-C808M
Would this one be bad for my D and C batteries, or my many AA and AAA for that matter?

I see that specs says that it charge C&D batteries with 1800ma, which is solid current but I don’ t see explanation about multiple battery charging, does every charging port have 1800ma or current is divide and minimize aproximately in relation with number of ports in use.
I think that 900ma for AAA is overmuch and it will be bad for batteries health.
I got a EBL package with a mess of D/C/AA/AA plus this charger:
The experience has kind of soured me on EBL in general, and the charger became a shelf queen after trying it out. I think the company puts a whole lot more marketing into their products than quality.
FWIW, I have the same Powerex, a bunch of ancient D and C (except the EBL and some newer Amazon Basics C’s) that are still seeing use, and I use the Powerex routinely for them.
The EBL handles Li 9v OK, but the charging control is internal so the ‘charger’ is just a voltage source.
Why not get another Powerex?
My Powerex still works but I bought it used many years ago either from someone here or at Candlepowerforum, they are more than 3 times the cost of the EBL.
It would be nice to have a second charger for Ds and affordable but from flydiver’s description it may not be practical without harming those expensive D batteries.
Thanks flydiver, is the EBL actually bad for the Ds and Cs, any other suggestions, aside from the $100 Powerex of course?
Not sure. Hard to tell WHAT it is doing. My dislike of the EBL batteries is their termination reliability in most any charger I have. You can’t really tell what the EBL charger is doing, but that’s the same with the Powerex. Neither seem to get hot. I do trust the Powerex more, but that’s based on years of continuous use. I probably haven’t given the EBL charger a fair shake but I have chargers I trust for small stuff, and the Powerex for big cells, so it’s easy to ignore.
A couple nice things about it is independent charging, discharge function, and actually fits pretty much anything NiMh. My better chargers won’t take big cells.
At $17, trying it out is not a big risk. If it charges, and doesn’t overcharge and get hot it may be OK.
I imagine the Powerex is really expensive now.
My old C’s and D’s (12-15 years old) are also starting to have termination problems in any charger, making comparisons with them problematic.
