Hello,
I`m looking for flashlight very short distance and very wide range and very fight from right to left,
” i will walk on beach/shore to try to find crabs and other fishes so i will go in water untill 80cm max
so i want to use the flash light to see the water/ i mean underwater but i will not put my flash light underwater ” sorry my english
so the range will be very short like from my foots to 8m max i think
and i would love to find very wide range and all is light from right to left
Actually a mule light with no reflector might give you the widest flood vs any sort of reflector
Most flashlights will be water resistant to a point, but submersion you need an IPX7 rating or better
P Code Meaning & Test Standard of the ip 100 water inject flow
IPX0 No special protection
IPX1 Protected against falling water Equivalent to 3-5mm rainfall per minute for a duration of 10 minutes. Unit is placed in its normal operating position.
IPX2 Protected against falling water when tilted up to 15 degrees - Same as IPX1 but unit is tested in 4 fixed positions - tilted 15 degrees in each direction from normal operating position.
IPX3 Protected against spraying water - Water spraying up to 60 degrees from vertical at 10 liters/min at a pressure of 80-100 kN/m2 for 5 min.
IPX4 Protected against splashing water - Same as IPX3 but water is sprayed at all angles.
IPX5 Protected against water jets - Water projected at all angles through a 6.3mm nozzle at a flow rate of 12.5 liters/min at a pressure of 30 kN/m2 for 3 minutes from a distance of 3 meters.
IPX6 Protected against heavy seas - Water projected at all angles through a 12.5mm nozzle at a flow rate of 100 liters/min at a pressure of 100 kN/m2 for 3 minutes from a distance of 3 meters.
IPX7 Protected against water immersion - Immersion for 30 minutes at a depth of 1 meter.
IPX8 Protected against water submersion - The equipment is suitable for continual submersion in water under conditions which are identified by the manufacturer.
Elliptical. Elliptical is the word you are looking for. There are a few carlco optics that have an elliptical beam pattern if you want to build your own light from scratch, or just search google for “magicshine lens”. That will point you in the right direction. The results should look something like this:
I use my Trustfire x100 out crabbing, and nothing else really compares. The flood helps you spot crabs in your peripheral vision, and the 16000mah battery capacity ensures you have decent run time since I’m often out there for hours. Using my c8 as a backup is like being in a black hole in comparison.
I just received a headlamp like this
The beam is very wide in flood mode, over 1.5m wide at 1m distance, more than 2m when I look into the floor with the head lamp on my head. Beam nice and even brightness, no artifacts.
The brightness is about 400-500lm. Modes are: High>Low>Strobe>Off. Build quality is ok. Works on 1 or 2 18650. Not water proof, probably not even splash-proof.
thank you , i think Zebralight Flashlight SC600 MKII L2 - Neutral White is different than Zebralight H602w right ?
because i saw it on youtube Zebralight H602w has very very wide angle
you are looking for a “mule” (no reflector, so no hotspot, can still see 30 feet out) light it sounds like. Spark and zebralight have a few lights like that. Safe to use around water.
Or you are looking for an aspheric light. when zoomed out it also produces no hotspot. not sure about water tightness.
Look up those two kinds of lights in the search bar up in the top left of the page.
no need to worry about brightness. they will be very bright.
I just picked up the Carlco 20mm Elliptical TIR, and it sounds like it’s exactly what you want. I put it in my Convoy S2+, and I LOVE the beam. Super wide, and very narrow. I’ll try to get the beam shots tonight.
