S0, it took me buying about 20-25 different lights of all different proportions to finally understand what types of light I want (especially recent purchase of DVSv2 and Astrolux MF01 Mini). Of course, if such light even exists. Hopefully some of the gurus here can advise.
I think ( among other types, which may be a topic for another time) I want a small / light ( not too small ) - weight/size similar to MF01s Mini or Thrunite TC20 or Mhvast TS70, or similar, that works on a single 26650 battery that is a combination flood and medium thrower (For example MF01s Mini doesn’t throw far enough, DvSv2 don’t either). This can be a reflector or TIR light as long as it has a nice beam profile with a good combination of flood and throw and a nice hot spot. Sort of of haikelite MT40 or sofirm Q8 does on a smaller scale/size/weight. Although I don’t want to throw less than the sofirm . It should throw 500-800m, have from 4.5-7,000 lumens or so, be able to stay in turbo for at least a couple minutes, ideally adjustable stuff, and dial down progressively to a sustainable rather high level ( hopefully no less than 2.5-3,000 lumens). In turbo it should not heat up too fast to the point you cant hold it, or after dialing down should be ok to hold for a while. I could compromise on the tint or type of emitter - secondary to the requirements above.
I suspect that it will have to use Osram emitters to reach the throw in this size?. And I like the size as close to cylindrical as possible, but of course the head will probably have to be slightly larger ( hopefully slightly) to cope with the heat dissipation.
Does anyone know if such animal exist? ( to give you an idea - Astrolux FT03 4300 lumens is pretty good and if I could have it in a small size id be happy. Convoy M3 would work if the hot spot was more defined and it could throw further. His Turbo lasts 80 seconds only but you can put in turbo again and it doesn’t heat up much, also its a bit heavy and bit large. Haikelite MT40 is very good but obviously size and weight, MF01s Mini heats up and doesn’t throw, DVSv2 doesn’t throw and heat up, doesn’t stay in turbo, Mhvast TS70 is a bit weak and not enough throw, catapult v6 has a large cone head and doesn’t have enough flood. Sofirn C8G is actually a good light but 2000 Lumens only. Same for Convoy S21A. Sofirm Q8 is good but heavy/large, more throw would be better. Sofirm Sp36 is good but no throw and is 3 battery light - you get the idea)
maybe a 3-18650 battery configuration is the only way to solve this, which I am after also ( waiting for a rot66 to arrive)
Any advice/suggestions appreciated.
Sorry for taking up your time and Thanks!
