Looking for the "ideal" flashlight for me

Hi,

I currently have a loopgear SK05 Pro, but it doesn’t quite fill my needs. I’ve been looking but it’s not easy to sift through all the available flashlights out there.

Here’s my wish list:

Must-have:

  • Small-ish pocketable - so SK05 is a good size, whereas Marauder Mini might be too big and heavy
  • Good battery life at least 3-5 hours on medium/high, so it can last through a full day hike. Longer is better.
  • Has easy to access red light to preserve night vision (I like the easy switch on marauder mini for example). Having to press+hold (from off? or not?) etc is a bit hard to remember.
  • Decent brightness

Nice-to-have:

  • Has spotlight, flood, and combination options
  • Would be AWESOME if it has rotary dial to control brightness like Marauder Mini or Wuben X4 - but I’ll settle without.
  • Bonus if it has laser pointer (for pointing to stars / constellations)
  • Bonus points for “side light” to illuminate a camp table, like Marauder mini 2 or Wurkkos HD02.

Don’t care:

  • I don’t care about UV. Don’t really need / know what to do with it.

Is there such a thing?

The closest I came across is Sofirn SR20 Mini - but it lacks spotlight option and doesn’t have rotary dial for brightness, and I could never remember how to get to red, and I’m guessing the battery life isn’t great since it has such a small battery.

There are some that would’ve been great had they replaced the UV with RED:

  • olight arkpro (laser + uv)
  • wurkkos HD02 (laser + uv)

Thanks for joining the gang, jimtng!

I just saw a HD02 Pro ad on facebook, albeit the flood using the “wings”, but it ticks my boxes: spot, “flood” (side lights for table use), red, and even bonus UV and laser.

The only cons:

  • No rotary adjustments, but I can live with that.
  • AFAIK it doesn’t have magnets, but I can live with that too.

I ordered one with an extra battery, and they’re giving away a free tripod at the moment. Plus I came across a youtube review that gave away a 5% discount code, my lucky day!

Note: I am not affiliated with Wurkos nor that youtube channel I linked.

Welcome back, thanks for the update! Seems like you didn’t get many responses to your original post, I think the list of requirements meant no obvious suggestions were forthcoming.

I hope the HD02 achieves what you need!

Regarding white + red + laser light options, I’m waiting for an Acebeam K1 to arrive, I went with the cyan version for the interesting wavelength laser and UV as I don’t use red, but they do green laser + red emitter option too, doesn’t have spot + flood though…
