Looking for thread lubricant recommendations

I can’t find my sylglide for the life of me, and i am aware of that monster thread from a while back, i’m just wanting something for about $5 or less shipped, please recommend the best for the price

I use Armytek Nyogel 760g and have been very happy with it. But it’s a little more than $5. I bought mine from HKequipment and its $6.50/5g, $11.00/10g, $13.00/25g.

ideal noalox is what everyone uses on mechanical ecig mods. is it a good solution for flashlights too?

Be nice. Do giveaways. Post links.

P. I just use silicone o-ring lube for diving.

I have a 150 gram tube of Dow Corning 111 valve lubricant that works very well for threads and o-rings. I have been using it on o-rings for many years. That 150 grams should last me several lifetimes.

I have some Superlube, but it produces a gritty gray grime on non-ano threads.

I also want some lube good for bare aluminum.

Has anyone , at any time , ever found a lubricant that doesn't produce grey grime on bare aluminum threads ?

Or produce contact issues ?

I totally swear by Nyogel 760g - absolute best - bought my original tube here: http://www.batteryjunction.com/nyogel-760g.html, but then got a great deal on an even bigger tube branded as FORD Motorcraft a member here was offering, though it was a couple of years old but as good as the branded tube. To me, anything else is 2nd best, or worse. Besides protecting O-rings, it's great for lubing thread contacts, and I believe it improves electrical contact, therefore improving output in cases where you are in a direct drive or reduced amp configuration.

ideal noalox I've tried, thinking it would improve electrical continuity on contact surface but from my experiences, it makes it worse. CRC 2-26 definitely improves electrical continuity - I've proved this several times already in actual measured amps and output.

I’ve been using Sentry Hi-Slip grease on the threads and “O” rings, I use it on my knives - pivots etc. I’ve always been a fan of Molybdenum Disulfide in lubricants.

Smooth-Kote is an alcohol carrier with (I think) Molybdenum Disulfide as the active ingrediant but it could be colloidal graphite. It’s a very thin solution that coats bearing surfaces after the alcohol flashes off, I find it much too messy to use.

The other product that I use from Sentry is Tuf-Glide - it’s an excellent lubricant, but has a distinctive smell that fades after a while.
With the Tuf-Glide I bought the pen applicator to see if it was any good then bought the 8oz bottle to refill it, brings the price down.

Hahahahah. I’ve been using vasaline for years now. :stuck_out_tongue:

I used to use Super Lube, which works fine, but I think Nyogel 760G is worth the extra couple bucks. If you care how smooth your threads are, it really is a superior product. EDC+ has 1oz tubes for $6.99 plus about $2 shipping.

I think $5 shipped may be a little outside the realm of possibility if you want a halfway decent lubricant. A 3oz tube of Super Lube can be had for $7 off Amazon. It’s about $10 at Walmart.

Every lubricant that I’ve used which includes superlube, nyogel 760g, silicone grease, vaseline, and even wheel bearing grease produces that grey grime that you speak of when used for a reasonable amount of time. I have also gotten contact issues when exclusively using a premium grease like nyogel 760g on my lights. My thoughts would be just to skip the hassle and get the cheapest or most convenient grease available that doesn’t attack your o-rings.

I use Inox for everything
