Not everyone has the same use-case, but a lot of people do use moonlight / super low modes, if I get up in the night to go to the bathroom moonlight is all the light I need and it means not waking up my wife. I have insomnia so waking up in the night is a regular occurrence for me and I use moonlight mode a lot. I could live with the SK05 not having moonlight if it wasn’t for the fact that the shortcut that is moonlight on every other light I’ve come across is turbo on the SK05. Getting that in the middle of the night with dark-adapted eyes is going to be a miserable experience.
I would prefer a 5000K SFT-40 for the throw channel myself, but I can see the reasoning for the SFT25R. CCT is very much a personal preference thing, they’re never going to be able to please everyone, and for a lot of non-enthusiasts lumens sell. Personally I don’t mind cool white and low CRI when I’m lighting stuff up way over there, in fact my favourite throw emitter is the CSLNM1.F1, but I’m not trying to change your mind. High CRI and neutral white is a definite preference for close to though which is why I’m more interested in the SK05 Pro as it will have Nichia 519a. I think they’re 5000K, but I can’t remember where I got that from so it may be wrong.
Logically the batteries must be connected in parallel which would mean that the light has access to 8000mah. I’m hypothesising but I can’t see any other way they could have done it. If I’m right, this is another thing that I really like about the SK05 as it should translate into great runtimes.
I would have preferred 4000K 519 for flood but I can live with 5000K
I would have preferred a nice tint and high cri for throw but it’s acceptable
I can live with a FET since it will have 8000mAh and the drop will be very slow
But… having a light that pretend to cover everything and supposed to be ultra versatile but without a moonmode accessible from from a long press from off ? No… sorry, I’m out…
Agreed regarding 1H from OFF, that should be moonlight, not turbo. They should consider modifying it so that when you are in one of the turbo modes (throw or flood), using 1H would then turn ON both front lights to turbo.
Yeah, i hope “pro” will be better too, the only concern right away is how reliable those battery quick released mechanism is. I do not want a couple of cells spilled out into my pocket, backpack or something. And now that i’ve seen just how bad non-pro is output is concerning too…
Also i mentioned low CRI high CCT not because i want NW R9080 (which i do), but because it significantly affects efficiency. Considering that, output of this light is so miserably pathetic it is hard to believe. I mean baton3 with its 16340 can do pretty much the same if not better and $25 FC11C with its single 18650 can do significantly more with 519A…
I am surprised a light with such output was even released, it makes no sense at all…
And yeah, 1H for turbo feels like trolling, not sure why else they’d do it…
Very nice! But I’m hoping you’ll come out with a successor to the SK-01s LEP. I’m playing with it right now and I really hope you guys do an LEP again.
I just received two of the SK-05 Pro today. The light looks stellar but for some reason, I can’t get the triple flood lights to work anymore. Even if I select the flood light mode, it still turns on only the throw light.
Additionally, has anyone figured out how to remove the bezel to get to the emitters? I would like to dedome the 519A.
I was able to remove it with a thin flat screwdriver, but it lightly scratched the tir. It’s not really noticeable, but if you have a replacement then it’s not a big deal.
