And also there is an option to Block users. Itâs important to not that the Block feature wonât be an excuse for users that are habitually rude or otherwise violate the rules. However, in more gray shades there are cases of users that generally get along and try to respect the rules, but they simply canât stand a particular fellow user. For those cases I think the Block option will help keep the peace.
I agree, the new forum has a very rich feature set.
Thank you for the upgrade!
How do you block users? (found out how to mute threads now)
OH MY GOD those are so useful! no disrespect to anyone, but some topics I have ZERO interest in, and some of those are updated regularly so always keep appearing at the topâŚno more!
I doubt Iâd block anyone tbh, but itâs useful to be able to for sure but if banners appear (though I havenât seen any yet lol) which annoy then it might be an option.
Also I think a 'discourse âhow toâ pinned topic might be a good idea - for things just like this it might help some less savvy users out a lot.
Definitely, there are a tons of things that Iâd like to include. Iâm just still swamped at the moment with the hassles of password reset emails not going thoughâŚ
Iâm still getting used to it, but the old interface was terrible on my phone. Iâm liking the new one. I havenât used it yet but being able to upload photos directly is a a game changer for me. Iâll need to try the mute threads too!
Maybe I missed it, but this looks like it is a setting muting for a User, not a thread? Right? So it would not remove threads from a list, like âeverythingâ, correct. Just change notifications for the first two levels⌠or block them (or content?) from a specific user.
If you scroll down to the bottom of a thread and change it from ânormalâ to âmutedâ it will no longer appear on the main page of most recent topics.
Both features exist, we can mute a thread,
and or also ignore a user
Yes, but not threads⌠I thought you mentioned being able to remove threads from a list of topics in a category.
I edited the first post so you can see how to use the thread mute feature
OK⌠Got it. Very nice.
Thanks!
FYI, you no longer have to use the propaganda cesspool known as imgur, since BLF now has built in photo hosting. (the âuploadâ feature)
First test:
Yup, it works.
I like to use imgur. I find the Album feature especially useful:
it lets me share multiple photos (15 pics in this example), including captions, with a single link, that works the same on different forums
I sure can see where the album thing would work well for your use case. OTH, I found it unwieldy (probably out of ignorance) to have to transfer the photo of interest to my PC, upload it to imgur, then copy the link, and return to BLF to use the link.
Drag and drop, at least for one or two photos is much easier. Probably the biggest aggravation for me of the old site was the image posting process.
I guess it is all about what one needs to do. I do not post nearly the volume of photos that you do Jon. I guess you can still use the old link method thoughâŚRight?
yes a photo link can be pasted directly into a post, easier than before, there is no image link step needed
I would still prefer that you use Imgur or some other external image hosting if you already have an album there and if you donât mind using an external service. Helps to save on disk space on the BLF server. But of course those that want it are welcome to directly post images now within a reasonable limit.
