I’ve been trying to do some ‘testing’ and have been taking tailcap readings of some of my different lights…
The long and the short… they all seem ‘low’.
I just got a shipment in from FT with a 2800mA Nanjg… I put a p60 drop-in with an XP-G2 emitter. It is brighter than all my other lights but my tailcap reading reads ~1.4A with a 18650 and ~0.8A with a 16340.
I am assuming these are quite low considering it is a 8*AMC7135.
On my BLF Mini02 I get a reading of ~1.4 as well.
Could it be my MM? Or is there something else I need to upgrade in the light to get the amps up?
Do I have to upgrade the tail clicky? Or, are the advertised amps of the drivers similar to Chinese lumens…?
Thanks for any clarification and direction… much appreciated!
No offense but my mini 02, while I haven’t preformed a draw test on it yet, is definitely pulling more than 1.4amps since that drive current doesn’t trigger the protection circuit on my TF flames as I have other 1.4a lights that work fine at it.
Like wise I have a 2800millamp driver and it’s pulling like 2.45-.68 amps on my p60 on average (Cell charge rate, composition, circuitry, etc); however I fried it and it’s probably not getting the best contact; I still need a new centering disk and to wrap the drop in.
You could be making a mistake (Not pressing the probes on properly so the readings wrong) or it could be faulty equipment (Multimeter, test leads or even weak batteries). Ultimately I can’t really tell you but it’s unlikely all your lights are reading that low.
i’m just trying to figure out if my MM is well calibrated (or most likely not)… I am ‘ok’ with ‘unlikely all your lights are reading that low’… I just don’t want all my lights to actually be that low… lol!
