I think this is another new LED flashlight at Lowes. 3C form factor and what looks like an XML. At 500 lumens is must be, it looks like one. Sorry for the poor pics, my cell phone camera is not up to snuff. I can read the item number from the original, photobucket messes with each picture just enough to make the number illegible.
Item #494832
I really like “C” sized lights, but I don’t like C cells. I think this light is perfect for the 2 - parallel 18650 mod as done in the DST 3C thread.
I’m waiting for the 3xXP-G2 3D to go on sale at HD like a happy puppy wagging his tail. I’m not terribly a fan of the Utilitech form factor, I prefer the style the Defiant lights have. And to those who don’t like C-cells, a C-cell is only less than 2mm smaller in diameter than a 26650.
The original discoverer of the mental named it Aluminum but the world changed it to -ium to conform with the rest of the elements. In 1925 The American Chemical Society restored it back to -um. So in the U.S. it is officially “Aluminum”
so, LOL, If someone wants to say “Al-u-min-ium” in the U.S., and be correct, they should, LOL, leave
I think the transition metals are exempt from the naming convention. there are still some representative metals that defy the XXX-ium naming convention. I think it’s mainly for the group-1 and 2 metals and and the more relatively-recently named metals in the representative group.
Let’s hope this is a Black Friday deal this year!, I mean how about this light at say………$12.97
Actually I think it is a great deal already. I, like you do not need another light right now. I have 6-DST’s still in the box and 2 of the 5C Defiants. Never mind all the other stuff.
How about someone else buying this light and do the tear down? It’s a good deal as is. Just a litlle over a year ago, I was happy to pay that for an XM-L C8. Was willing to wait 4 weeks for delivery too.
I know some of those here are disturbed by the fact that, more and more, finds at HD and Lowes are being posted here. It is only because our blessed XM-L emitter is finally going mainstream. In the past if one wanted a light with an XM-L in it, they had to go to the internet and order one. The fact that places like Lowes and HD have them now means that as they go mainstream, prices will go down. We are already seeing that.
We as enthusiasts will always be ahead of the curve, but now we have to work harder than ever to stay ahead. Maybe that’s a good thing………
I was suggesting the far end of the cost scale, ignoring all else (Missed Comfy already having said it)
Roughly $20,000 for a solid C8 sized pill made of platinum (Platinium? ).
