Could somebody comment on the experience with the Lumintop D2? On paper it looks like a really nice, regulated, moderate thrower. It apparently has a choice of Osram or Nichia LEDs - which ones and how do they compare?
p.s. It seems to have a decently moderate throw factors of about 40 cd/lm for Nichia and 60 cd/lm for Osram. Different optics, but a little tighter/throwier than Sofirn IF19. There is also 18350 tube for it apparently to shrink it. Is the Nichia the high CRI 519A or something else? What are the CCT options?
From what I’ve read the Nichia is a 219C 4000K, so lower CRI than 519A. And their Osram is not one of the Osrams known for throw either, just a generic low CRI emitter good at neither throw nor flood.
Both LED options are extremely outdated, and unless you intend to swap the emitter, I would not touch this light.
I have the Osram P9 version. I like the form factor. It’s a fun little thrower, typical Lumintop build quality. Simple UI. The P9 gives a horridly puke green spill, but the hotspot is fairly neutral (cold white). The tint is tolerable outdoors where the spill is diffused, and it can illuminate a treeline a couple hundred meters away. I don’t use it much because I have so many other throwers, and the “hold for off” is not to my liking. I imagine the Nichia version might be better suited for something like urbex where beam distances aren’t as critical in building interiors, and the tint would be superior.
