My lumen measurements are taken using high-drain cells with a lumen tube & Sunche meter. Candela & throw measurements are taken with a Dr. Meter light meter.

Pros:

  • Extremely bright
  • Build quality is good
  • Can utilize flat top cells
  • PD/QC Charging w/digital readout

Con

  • Gets really hot, really quickly
  • Quick step down on turbo
  • 7000k CCT on turbo - a very cold output
  • Average CRI
  • Price point

Summary: ★★★★

I purchased this light under the premise of it being an updated & upgraded version of the original GT3. The emitters carry over from the original GT3, and so does the general size & shape of the reflector & head diameter. You have the addition of onboard charging and the change from 18650 cells to 21700 cells. You also get a bump in initial lumen output.

Given the increase in length compared to the original GT3 (the PRO is as tall as a Convoy 4X18A or 3X21B) - this no longer fits as well in a coat or jacket pocket for those nice cool weather strolls out and about. When I spent some time with this light recently, it gets very hot on turbo, even in cool ambient temperatures with a light breeze.

Versatility is essential to me, and adding onboard charging is a big win in my book. I enjoy the form factor, and this will put a lot of light on something, albeit briefly. Still, given the vast array of available emitter choices, I’m left longing for different options. Overall, this iteration of the GT3 is a good step forward in design progression over the original GT3.

Loving these reviews, I’m a fan of the shorter format, plus you fit in all the goodies us enthusiasts need!

Thanks for the review.

Is that a grammatical error or does it lose that many lumens from startup to 30 seconds?

29700 to 4400? I’ve never seen that much of a fall off. That would be a deal breaker right there.

From 1 - 20 seconds, it held 20k+lm. After the 20 second mark it fell off sharply to 4400lm but then held 4000~lm to 30 minutes when at that time,I concluded my test.
