I’m new here, but since I’ve been gathering a lot of info from you folks, I’m sharing this sale I found today when looking for a recommend 1xAAA flashlight with modes. This was supposed to be a $20 flashlight it seems, but I found a Aliexpress link direct from the factory website that was offering a 49% off discount.
I’m not experienced in buying quality flashlights, I got two 1xAA ones in the $2-3 range from GearBest early this year that seem to be fake Ultrafire/Cree branded ones. I’m trusting this because it was a link provided by the factory.
I ordered one and I hope everything turns well. Hoping to help someone else to get a budget light.
I’m aware of the copper Tool w/Nichia, but it’s quite a bit more expensive. So I hope the Alu Tool with Nichia is real and not just an incorrect/fake Amazon listing.
The “Tool” seems to be a favorite here, so I ordered one from GB with the code. Wish I could have ordered 2, but the code only worked for one. The price is certainly right. The Tank 007 e09 is a favorite of mine, and will be interesting to compare.
I have a Worm, and I suppose the difference is the tail switch, and of course the “wormy” barrel.
Thanks for the heads up on the Tool Sale. I hope they put the Tools with Nichia on sale Too.
I like to buy them as “gifts” (for myself… LOL). I did actually give away two of my copper tools recently… Im tempted to replace them
Yes the Aluminum Tool is now available with the Nichia… :+1:
Yes the Tool can be used as a Twisty, such as when using the magnetic tailcap.
Im a Huuge fan of the Lumintop w Nichia lights. Here are some Legos using the Tool and Worm, both w Nichia, to create a High CRI Twisty: (note; the ReyLight is a version of the Tool and both Lego the same)
I use a Copper Worm w Nichia head on a Copper Maratac Body
I also use a Copper Tool w Nichia head on a Copper Maratac Body
there IS a significant difference between the Worm and the Tool. The Worm has a much shorter threaded section. So thought a Worm head will work on a Tool or Maratac, the reverse is not true. You can see the Maratac head does not light:
You can see the head to body gap with the Worm head is larger than with the Tool head. However the Worm head does still cover the O ring.
The worm head also works on my Titanium Thrunite AAA. The reverse Lego, Thrunite head to Worm body does Not light up. (Maratac and Tool head also do Not Light up on Thrunite body)
When I lego my Tool head to my Maratac body, the reverse, Maratac Head on Tool Body, also works, because both my Tool and Maratac are recent versions, neither of which uses PWM. Older Maratacs and Tools, that had PWM use shorter threads than the latest versions. You can see in this photo that both the Maratac head on Tool Body, and the Tool head on Maratac body, light up:
