Lumintop Tool Magnet AAA review & Astrolux A01 comparison

Respect for a dad who takes his daughter camping! In a Van as in Vanagon? (me too:-)
So did you also tend to use the Cool Tool on High and the Warmer A01 on a lower setting, or also on Max brightness? I have a theory that the brighter we go, the Cooler we go.

for example, a fantasy light for me would have 3 LEDs. On Low of 1 lumen 3000k, on Medium of 25 lumens 4500k, and on High above 100 lumens 6000k

Now since you wish you could have a Tool with a tailswitch, maybe you can order one by itself, not sure. Otherwise you have an opportunity.
You can get a Copper Tool with Nichia, similar (slightly cooler) to the A01. You might even be able to put the Copper switch on the Aluminum Tool you have. The heads will swap too. Or you could buy a TiTool with Nichia, and use that switch on the Aluminum tool. The Ti head is not interchangeable though.

Im a fan of the Nichia version of the Tools. Both have some discount codes floating about iirc, PM me if you need help finding a light that is brand new, instead of one from Lucky Light Bank, who iirc is a reseller of customer returns.

the flat Ti Tail has a tail switch, even though it looks like the aluminum magnet tail, the Ti Tail is not a magnet.

I prefer the Nichia Tool low of 3 lumens and medium of 18 lumens, over the A01 low of 0.07 and medium of 7 lumens

If I had to go for another, it would be the titanium for sure. I don’t have any titanium lights.

The TiTool is very classy, but I decided not to keep mine and kept only the Copper one, here are some reasons

  1. The switch is a bit small, I could not use my thumb and had to use index finger
  2. The switch has a battery in it, and if the light has not had a battery in it, such as when first shipped, there is no High mode until about 30 minutes after I insert a battery. This bothers me. It means Im using my battery to keep the switch powered.
  3. The dealbreaker for me, I ran it on High for 5 minutes, tailstanding. When I touched the head it was hot enough to not want to keep the light.
  4. Titanium, and brass, are much worse conductors of heat and Electricity than Copper or Aluminum. Selfbuilt found the runtime on High for the TiTool, was shorter or less efficient, than the runtime on High for the Copper.
  5. Im a copper freak.

otoh, the Titool fits better on my keychain, but, I dont like to keep a light on my keychain
The TiTool tailswitch is less likely to turn on accidentally if carried in a pocket
