I’ve been hunting these 3500k emitters for a little while now and have finally managed to find a source.
Unfortunately, there is a minimum order of 500 pieces to make this happen which is why I’m trying to pool together a group-buy.
I’ve been using the 3000k version for a little while now and really love it. They are 3535 XP sized so it has many applications.
CRI is very high and it’s brighter and tighter than the Nichia 219b. Throw is comparable to the XP-L Hi.
Please let me know if you are interested and how many pieces you would like. Pricing will be $1.75 each plus $5 shipping to US50. International will be extra.

Emitter comparison:
Beam shot comparison. BLF-A6 lights with a 3000K SST-20 on left and a 5A 4000K XP-L HI on right at the same drive currents.
Part number is for the tighter grouping closest to the BBL but I’m unable to specify the bin. I have a 4000k sst-20 that’s slightly above BBL and don’t notice too bad of a tint shift. Fingers crossed for some slightly rosy ones.
Hi azhu, that are 2 good looking Frelux Energy1s
How easy/difficult was the emitter swap?
About the SST-20 group buy: which specific bin where you eying?
I myself have a Kaidomain triple 3000K SST-20. And while CRI, R9 (deep reds) and beam uniformoty are great, personally I think tint of my SST-20s is on the yellow side, while I prefer rosy. Kaidomain states on their website they sell the J3 HD2 bin which should be below BBL, but to me doesn’t look like it. Djozz also mentioned something about tint of the SST-20 he tested.
Edit: seems more people are interested in the binning
In that case you are not in, the 352 group that is what the OP is offering is a mix of 4 chromaticity bins (GA3, GD2, GC1 and GB4) of which two are under and two are above the BBL.
The emitter swap is super easy. Just remove the pill, desolder the wires, and reflow the old emitter out with the new. Then reassemble in reverse order.
As for binning, I don’t think I can choose the bin. I’m selecting the tighter binning group closest to the BBL line so there should be a good chance it will not have an ugly tint shift even if it’s slightly above the BBL line. I have the 4000k SST-20 and the bin was above the BBL line but the yellow isn’t super noticeable. Every batch will be different so I’m hoping to get some below the BBL line.
I post leds in a small bubble mailer as a plain letter, no tracking. From the Netherlands that is a one euro stamp. Does it work like that in the States too?
Yes I could do that too but it will be at the risk of the buyer should they choose to go that route. If it’s just for a couple LEDs, probably not a big risk but if ordering more, I’d recommend something with tracking.
Thanks for organizing this. I would be in for 40 (not that I need that many) just to support this if you could pin down a tint bin. The 4000k sold on KD is the FB4 bin, which has some green. Even the FA3 bin used by Fireflies, which is supposed to be at or below the BBL was reported to have some green/yellow in it and requires a minus green filter to perfect. I think it would be safer to aim for GA1 and GD4 tint bin.
I love the 3000k sold at KD with HD2 tint. It is a bit yellowish at lower lumen modes but at higher outputs the tint definitely drops below the BBL for a neutral/rosy without yellow tint. It is not as rosy as the E21A 3000k though.
