Sintro, you may want to run your antivirus program. If that isn’t it go into command prompt and type “net view” and make sure all the computers on your network are yours. I have used both the doan and the 1 dollar walmart ones and they seem identical in the magnesium but the firesteel in the name brand one works better.

It might be something on my brothers computer by some wierd chance. Except my mom and her laptop, we all run wired. But I’ll run some gmer and Mbytes first. Then try disconnecting the cables. And I’ll turn off the wireless. Thanks for the suggestions.

Here’s a question I remember from my almostpost. * Is there a difference in between the Doan and noname cheap mag bars?*(That you guys can see, not just say the mag is more pure)

Usually no, but you never know. You should test it just to be sure. I have a Doan, a few $ more, but hey one lasts a lifetime. I also have a chinese no-name magbar and it also works OK.

But according to this video, some no-name brands really are suspect. LINK

And firesteel rod falls off frequently from no-name brand magbars.

I think I tried the kind from the OP and I don’t like them because these are the smaller kinds of ferro rods.
I generally own 4-5 different kinds that I acquired over the years and you have to be careful what you buy because some of these rods are way smaller then others.

I can recommend the ones from DX (watch out which ones you get) or quality stuff for more $$$ like the lightmyfire or ESEE starters.

In the end I don’t see anything wrong with buying a lot of the cheap, not as good ones as 1-2 expensive ones. Prefer the last option though personally.
