For boxing enthusiasts, this fight is ‘The Fight’. Less than 2 months from now it’s gonna happen on May 2.
Subjectively, since Pacquiao is a countryman, of course we all go for him. So much opinions going around, from experts to laymen making this fight exciting.
How about you?
This is the collected topics website about the fight which I visit daily:
This is the fight that could bring back the “Friday Night Fight”. No not the ESPN version, but the 1950’s show hosted by Gillette Razor Blades.
Back then Boxing was a mainstream sport here in the U.S. and the Friday Night Fight was very popular sort of like Monday Night Football is now. It was broadcast over the air on a major network. Later, when pay per view came out, all the big fights could only be seen by people who had cable or premium channels or paid extra to watch just that one fight (pay per view). IMHO that helped kill the popularity of boxing here in the U.S.
Boxing promoter Don King didn’t help, at least as far as I was concerned.
Would like to see Manny win but can’t help feeling he’s 3-4 years past his best. Would have been a great match up when he was in his prime but I think Mayweather might get the win now. Could be wrong - Hope I am.
What happens if the winner is tested drug positive?
Although the contract is drawn and the fight is set at Las Vegas on May 2, Pacquiao’s camp wants an addendum that whoever fails the drug test to be administered by the US Drug and Anti-Doping Agency should pay $5 million to the other. Mayweather declines.
Why say no when Mayweather has always been an advocate of drug testing in the sport of boxing? Any drug testing with a $5m penalty attached can only be good for the fans and sport is’nt it?
The ‘Fight’ is only about two weeks away. The media hype is becoming deafening….
Here in my place, my regular high-roller friend has this unusual betting condition: He is betting that the bout reaches the 12th round. Once the bell rings to signal the start of the 12th round, he wins, regardless of wins the bout. If the bout does not reach the bell signalling the start of the 12th round, for any reason (knockout, earthquake, terrorist attack, dq, no contest, etc.), he loses. In short, he is betting just on the start of the 12th round, not on which fighter.
