MiBoxer C8

Has anyone had this and/or found a solution?
My charger, used for 18650 Li-Ion batteries, has started bouncing between C1 & C2 for display of batteries in charger (there are 8 in the charger).
Have had it for about 3 years, and before today, it would stay on one Cell and could be switched with the SLOT button. Now it is bouncing between C1 & C2, while it can be forced to go to other cells it will revert back to cell 1 quickly and not stay on one cell long enough to get a good picture of what is happening.
Have read through the manual that is available online, no help there. Have attempted to reset (power off and back on) pushed buttons in various patterns, no change.

If anyone has a suggestion, it would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance

It’s good to have you here, riverrunner06!

Thank you for welcome!

MiBoxer made some interesting stuff, during the time it was engaged in the charger market, but their products did have some bugs, or other issues that would manifest themselves deeper into ownership.

However, that venture didn’t last, and was a small part of a company with bigger fish to fry.

At this point, I see you can still buy some of them brand new, from third-party sellers, but I would consider them abandonware, stuck with WYSIWYG, and probably no support.

There used to be a MiBoxer rep here who was quite engaged, but he moved onto other things as well; someone mentioned something about wooden watches.

Could be bouncing back to C1 due to poor contact. If it has a charge indicator showing total mAh’s, abs it keeps resetting back to zero, this may be the issue.

Try cleaning the contacts and sliders really well. Move the sliders back and forth while blowing some canned air or compressed air in the tracks, then give the sliders a little drop of lube, same stuff you’d use on your lights.

Qtips and alcohol are great, along with an eraser to really scrub the contacts. Never hurts to make sure the ends of your batteries are clean as well.

bigm,

Ordered a new charger from Amazon, it did the same thing right out of the box. It was returned today.
Tried cleaning the sliders on the old charger, they were dirty. The contacts were clean. Same results.

It would stay on the same cell until the cell was removed or the slot button was pushed to move to a different cell up until last week… may have a project to see what I can screw up trying to find the problem :^)
