Modding Solarforce L2 for Jonny C's STAR firmware (Advice)

I’ve been looking at parts at MtnElectronics.com trying to decide what to do for a new build, and I came across these drivers pre-flashed with the STAR momentary firmware. being able to access both High and Moon mode from OFF is very cool.

The issue is getting the host light to work with the functions of that driver. I want to come up with a simple solution to change my L2m to work with that driver.

Is anyone familiar with this style of switch?:

1. does it fit on a solarforce host?

2. is it reasonable to think that with a little modding it can be used to supply constant current to the driver (via twist on) and also add a wire through the battery tube for a separate connection from the momentary switch to the driver for modes?

A wire through the battery tube would work, if there was room enough for it. It would be easier to drill a hole in the host and install a small momentary switch up front.

I don’t trust myself to drill it. I live in a small apartment, so no drill press or lathe, just hand tools. I’m hoping to get it to fit in the orignal body so I can remove it if I don’t like it. If not, I’d be more inclined to buy a Convoy L4 or SF L2d and mod that vs drilling into my host.

But do you think that switch could function like I think it might?

My solarforce L2M came with a forward clicky. This has been modified into a momentary switch and used in another light. It was not that difficult and no I dont have pictures.

Look at the L2D model, it may fit the bill.
