Any good coupon codes for this.
@cannga Do you know if there’s a bigger coupon code for this light floating around?
You can get nice one from Neal for it
~30%
I don’t know what is currently floating around. I got my A54U V2 high CRI with Neal’s Halloween sale for 25% off, fwiw.
I used this discount code and got $9 off: THANGVUDUC
Really? I’d personally be scared of asking Neal specifically for a coupon.
Is it actually a good idea?
I do it all the time, sometimes he makes a checkout if can offer bigger discount than any of the working codes for the light i want. But first i would see if any codes which work is enough discount for you. ND25F ND30F ND35F VIP30F
Yeah, I tried those in the past and none of them work when I start ordering the light ![]()
I guess I will email Nealsgadgets on the subject then.
Actually, how do I even contact him?
Fastest is on Facebook but he have email or chat on site ( which i never used), maybe WhatsApp too but i dont know it.
Just picked up two @ $40 each.
How?!!
Coupon code, dont ask me which one, I googled it.
Complete beam data. The Nichia LEDs that I’ve tested, especially Nichia 519a, have Duv that becomes more negative at higher brightness (looks “better”). This N5-165HPE+ 4000k does the opposite; its Duv becomes more positive as brightness increases. This behavior btw is similar to those fabulous FFL rosy LEDs.
Subjectively (YMMV), the levels that I use most often for this light, levels 3 @ 1100lm and lower, look good. Level 4 and Turbo have a moderately green tint. Turbo remains appealing to me because of the warm CCT and overwhelming brightness.
This LED reminds me of my Convoy XHP70.3 flashlight, my R70 versus the R9050 version: you could have lower CRI and a rosy tint, or higher CRI and a green tint, but you can’t have both rosy tint and high CRI.
At any rate, for this HP165 LED, we have 2 choices 6500k and 4500k, both fascinating but if I have to pick one, it would still be the 4000k version, paricularly because of the high CRI. But of course, if you have the fund, especially with that amazing but mysterious discount code, buy both. 6500k have Duv has beautiful tint, flat out neutral range at Turbo, Duv = 0.000.
Level 1 = 130 lm, 3720k, Duv 0.002
Level 2 = 530 lm, 3740k, Duv 0.002
Level 3 = 1150 lm, 3764k, Duv 0.003
Level 4 = 3290 lm, 3961k, Duv 0.005
Turbo = 14780 lm, 4000k, Duv 0.005
I did manage to find a 25% coupon, but a 30% coupon would be even better.
This is interesting. I observe the same with 519A: as current increases, the phosphor becomes saturated and more blue leaks through, lowering both duv and CRI. For some other emitters like 219C and LH351D, the light becomes greener with increasing output.
If I had to guess, the cause is down to the specific phosphor they used. Perhaps the green-turning LEDs have a yellow-green phosphor that is robust and does not saturate with high current, but a red phosphor that saturates early and stops making more red light despite increased power.
Thanks. I know it’s of course a complex process but at least basically, is this how a LED is created? For example engineers would add more red phosphor for more rosy beam color and more negative Duv?
I’ll post the numbers for the 6500k version of this same LED, but curiously it does the exact opposite. Its Duv becomes more negative with increased output.
The 2 CCT’s do have markedly different colors:

Exactly! Or less green phosphor.
It is official: I have bought the Nighwatch A54 Ultra 2 4000k 95CRI.
Guys Neal has just posted 35% off
Edit- as in email the code is
BLACKFRIDAY
Wow I just tried - the code works. $38.97 for a 15000 lm light with regulated driver, USB-C charging, fully functional thermal regulation. Nothing comes remotely close.
BTW, 35% off is the absolute lowest I’ve ever seen from Neal, matching the Christmas sale. I’m looking at A10. Damnit I need another flashlight like a hole in the head
.
CAVEAT EMPTOR:
- Generally not a light for someone new to the hobby.
- Turbo is extremely short acting (same as in all high lumen lights without active cooling, but this one is about 30 secs), meaning Turbo burst about 10-20 seconds for quick search, etc. only.
- At Turbo, Duv=0.0000 for 6500k, 0.0050 for 4000k high CRI.
- Pay with paypal or credit card to file dispute in case light is defective.
Other than that NOTHING comes close.
