Moon light "Mode" on Sky Ray KING

It can be done with some practice on every KING out there, first of all see the pics:

Three LEDs ON

Two LEDs ON

One LED ON

Well, it’s not difficult to do, all you have to do is turn it on, and start unscrewing it slowly. When it turns OFF, screw it a little bit and press button, repeat until it turns on, if it starts with too much brightness, unscrew a little bit, and repeat the process with patience and after some practice you are done.
If you unscrew it too much not all three leds will turn on like in my pics, I don’t know if it’s because of lower VF or maybe because of it’s subdrivers difference.

Again, with some time and practice you can do it well, mine is turned on for five hours without turning off and without blinking, if you don’t do it well enough it can blink or turn off at any time. If you press the head it may also affect.

Here I add two videos:

Another tip (not about moonlight), when you have the bug on the KING, it happens this way: High - Low - High(instead of turning OFF) - High(Again). Each “-” is a click (switch), so on the final one,* if you keep pressed the button for 1 to 2 seconds, it will turn off*, if you press it quickly it will turn off AND then into HIGH mode, click again for LOW, and click again for OFF (Of, if the bug doesn’t come again).
I hope you understand my explanation. I do it automatically each time I detect the bug, so I can turn it off faster.

Man she looks hot on fly mode…… Took me a couple of tries, but it works…. I love my King !!

Hey thanks for commenting! I though nobody care about this.
Yeah, it is difficult at first, but it is very nice

I have 22 lights and the King is the sweetest of them all…. This light should be in everyone’s collection ! Keep up the testing …. Thanks !

Any lasting effects to this “experimentation?”

Does the light behave normally afterwards?

Same here, I have lots of flashlights, and the KING is my favorite, then I have some specific throwers when needed, but the KING is irreplaceable

In my case, I have left it turned on for DAYS, and then when really want to use the full power, it’s just to screw it just a little and done, it works as it should work, without any problems.
The only problem is that if you shake a lot when running in moon mode, it can vary it’s output; So, it works if you don’t shake a lot. For indoor use it’s perfect.

It gets better the longer you practice ! Once you find a good spot you can use the button to drop it to low around 2 to 5 lumens…. I just threw in 4 fully charged Orbtronics and works perfect with no side effects…….

I have a bunch of lights as well and my King is special. I am glad I bought it. I was driving downtown one night with it and decided to shine it on the old GE factory. It lit it up like you wouldn’t believe! It puts out major league light and throws better than you would expect.

FX32 +1 I thinks that’s the easiest mod to date. Took a few attempts but i marked the head with each contact point and its a dependable mode. Thinking now i should have replaced the batteries prior to make sure they don’t change the contact between head and battery tub…Thank You…

Anyone can explain what exactly is going on inside when you act these unscrewing moonlight mode?

Wow thats cool. I’m guessing the poor contact is starving the drive circuit of current so the LEDs are dim, and if its low enough only the lower Vf emitters work…???

FWIW I just tried it on my Apex 5T6 and I could not get it to work. It just flickers from the intermittent battery tube contact.
