HKJ tried 4.5, 5 & 5.5v.
Heatsinked to a large piece of aluminum.
Thicker gauge wires then any usb cord soldered to input skipping any issues with the usb jack or usb cord quality.

Its a very good CC/CV chip, it just doesn’t do the claimed 1A. Slight exaggeration in current. Nothing like you see with chinese lumens or anything.
