Plenty (about 25). I ordered a lot of those since it would be my personal choice, and is the one that I'm most likely to recommend for an all-around light.
I just assembled the green LED on 20mm Noc into the C8 host, driving it with a 6-chip Nanjg 105C driver @ 2.1A, and…. just wow. I can’t believe how far it throws and how bright it is.
Can’t wait to see how it works with the XR-E reflector. I may even try an OP reflector just for the hell of it. My guess is that it will be a nice smooth beam, and still throw plenty far.
Ok cool, I was going to say if you needed a C8 you could get an X6 to tie you over until he gets the C8’s back in. But you already have one. The only other place I know to get a good C8 is FT.
I built 3 Hot Rod C8’s for gifts last Christmas. I’m down to only 2 for myself. I feel like I need three for some reason…
I’ve been pondering whether or not to join Flashaholics or not….yea I’ve got it real bad…
I also prefer the SMO reflector.
BTW, that complete Convoy C8 is the new style, not what is shown in the pics (at least mine was). Comes with a 20mm MCPCB screwed down on a pre-tapped pill.
Now I’m feeling a little guilty about buying the last 2 C8 host that RMM had when I bought my XPL 3D tint a couple weeks back. I wanted to try out all the NW 5000k tints to find out what I like.
Please correct me. I thought that Zeners were very inefficent at low powers and/or also with buck drivers with lots of headroom (I
may have mixed my topogies).
I keep looking for an efficent driver capabile of being run low and high with out (or without noticable pwm) (tint shift as a functon brightness is can be tolerated) being driven by 2-3 cells in series for MT-G2 emitters. For example I really want to pick up a couple of floody jm30’s and I also wanted to use an extra extention (so 3S) to really give me some good voltage head room.
I think a zener is not the most efficient driver in this type of usage/design spec? is this correct?
