So I purchased an Olight S2R Baton II in August of 2019.
It lasted about 6 months before it started acting incredibly glitchy and unpredictable.
It stopped holding a charge, and wouldn’t access turbo without flickering and stepping down even after a full charge.
Attempting so would take the battery indicator LED immediately into the red 10% or lower.
It will also say its fully charged after 5 minutes plugged in.
I had purchased one for my father as well, and used his to swap batteries with to see if the problem was my flashlight or my battery.
My battery in his flashlight worked perfectly fine, and his battery in my flashlight exhibited the exact same issues.
So the problem was definitely the flashlight itself.
I emailed Olight about it and inquired about their 5 year warranty.
They were very quick to respond and only required my amazon order number.
After sending my order number along with my shipping address, they sent out a replacement completely free of charge, and it was at my door within a week.
I didn’t have to pay any shipping, and even more impressive, I didn’t even have to send them my faulty flashlight! That blew my mind.
So now I have my flashlight working again, and I have a second battery!
AND, I never have to put my flashlight on the charger again because the second flashlight is now my battery charger.
I just swap batteries when mine gets low, and charge the low one with the second flashlight.
Basically, for the price of one flashlight, I got an extra battery and a charger for it. Life was good.
Its still going strong today, and having both I can fully confirm the original flashlight was indeed faulty and the battery is fine.
Unfortunately the flashlight I bought for my dad is now exhibiting the exact same issues as my original…
now I’m wondering if its not isolated issue, and this is just the nature of the S2RBatonII?
I’m no Olight fanboy or anything, but my warranty experience had me pretty happy with them and second guessing buying from other companies just based on the fact that, if I do experience any issues, at least I KNOW I’m safe with Olight and their warranty.
But what’s the point of sticking with them if they make a product guaranteed to need the warranty?
Edit: I guess I’ll know for sure if/when my replacement starts doing the same thing.
