I have a blackjack mount for my fire helmet and I have currently been using my solorforce but it’s also my main light for other task. I’d like something that will last longer and isn’t as long as you can see it takes the whole side of my helmet. I’ve looked at the ltm but was wondering what other options I should look at. I’d like at least 300lms (more would be nice) and to last about 90 mins or longer. I don’t care about batteries since I know I will have to buy new ones since I only own 18650.
To much flood will light up the smoke to bad so more throw with a little bit of flood
A sipik sk68 would do the job nicely.
runs off 1 AA or 14500, and 14500s are cheap and supercharge the light. It has adjustable flood and throw so you can make it completely even flood, or a dot of pure throw.
I can’t vouch for battery life though, but you can just carry a bunch of 14500s around if needed. They’re the same size as AAs.
I don't think a zoomie should be used in this scenario. It could easily be bumped and put into full flood. I want our fireman to be well equipped and have superb equipment. Sadly most small light are flooders.
What drop-in does your solarforce have Mowgli?
You could try a SolarForce L2M with an XR-E emitter and SMO reflector. (For small size that's all I can recommend)

Yes it’s true that small knocks will adjust the zoom.
I think the SolarForce L2M with an XR-E or XP-G would be good. Around 300 lumens and more throw than an XM-L. FYI an XP-G has higher total light output, but the XR-E has more throw.
However if you can get an XR-E or XP-G drop-in, with a 3100mAh 18650 battery you could definitely get over 3 hours usage on the highest setting.
Yup. 300 OTF lumens requires something around 1A, so I think he's limited to 18650.
Even high quality 16340 only have about 650mAh, 14500 have about 750mAh, and the only high quality 18350 that I know about are IMR's and those top out at 800mAh.

It can’t be a really small light like the AA/14500 since the black jack mounts fits a 1” light and too much smaller the screw that holds it in place won’t hold the light.
So the body of what ever light has the be about the same size as a surefire 6p body.
I need to check the drop ins I have to see what they are.
I do like that the l2m can use 18350 to give it a longer run time than the 16340. Even a hour run time would be nice at 300lms or more.
I was thinking about the Spark SL6 series, as they give 460lm for your 90minute criteria, but they may be 6mm larger than your mount. If that’s the case you could change your helmet mount to a 30mm Weaver mount on a Picatinny rail. Their SL5 series will fit your 1” mount though, but they are only up to 220lm.
Ive decided on the L2M. Do you have any links to battery’s and the drop in you recomend? What kind of output will the xr-e and the xp-g put out if I go with the 3100mah 18650 battery’s you said to go with
