My older Tenergy AA cells are slowly dying off one by one as they are getting pretty old. I’d like to get a fresh pack of quality AA NiMHs but haven’t kept up on the latest versions and if any brands have supplanted Eneloops as the go-to cell.
They will be used in miscellaneous household devices that get infrequent use like flashlights, toys, etc.
Bonus if I can order from Amazon Prime or other fast and free shipping.
IKEA sells them for $7 plus tax. Unfortunately, not everyone lives near an IKEA, and I don’t think they sell online. I’m lucky to live 3 miles away from one
Anyway, I recommend these IKEA white labeled LADDAs, Amazon Basics, Fujitsu LSDs, or genuine made-in-Japan eneloops. If speculations are correct, they all came out of the same FDK factory in Japan. So buy based on size (AA/AAA), type (Lite, regular, Pro), and whichever is cheaper. Without any kind of sales, the IKEA are indeed the best priced.
Tax is 9.5% for me. My neighboring state has no sales tax. If I need to make a big purchase, I make the 3 hour drive. Not for these batteries, unless I’m buying like 100 packs, lol.
I hear you. Walmart probably outnumbers IKEA 10:1 in my region.
If anyone with no IKEAs around would like to get some of these batteries, I don’t mind picking them up and mailing them to you (continental US only, please. Postage will be prohibitive elsewhere). I don’t intend to making anything out of it, so just cost of battery + tax + postage. PM me if you’re interested.
Hah! Ikea sells them for about $7.6 here in Sweden, and that includes 25% VAT that we have on almost everything… AND I can actually order them on the webpage so even the service is better here. Amazing. Then again, since I live about 25km from a store, I might as well go there and buy them
Correct. The white labeled LADDA is widely believed to be FDK sourced, the same factory that supplies genuine eneloops.
The Green/Silver ones are being phased out. Someone posted that they are on clearance for $1 per pack of 4. While they may be inferior, that price is hard to beat. I was hoping to pick up a bunch as a sort of ‘throwaway rechargeables’ - I know that’s an oxymoron. But my local IKEA is selling them for $3 per pack of 4. I’ll wait and see if they go to $1 eventually.
Are those really made in Japan Eneloops, though? Wouldn’t they really be Chinese Eneloops (which are inferior), given that Gearbest is Chinese and ships from China?
