Need budget flashlight for camping, hiking at night?

Usually yes. There has been reports having only 1100-1800 lumens with those fakes when real ones have up to 2200-2300 lumens.

I like "gold" (really it's just light brown) color of mine.

I think there’s two choices, if its not shipped and your unsure, cancel the order, if it has shipped, you’ll have to wait and try and make a claim if it turns out unfit for purpose.

You have ordered good cells with protection if I remember right, so series is less of an issue than it could be.

Thank you.

@M3TAL_LORD Thanks. I feel angry at myself for being such an idiot.

@Gords1001 Thanks. I didn’t order any separate batteries. Someone else posted about batteries in this thread. The batteries I’ve got are the ones thrown in - presumably as a sweetener - with the torch.

This is the one I ordered. I don’t know if URLs are allowed:

SKU: 174986 on DX.com

The problem is, I’ve never seen a really powerful LED flashlight in the flesh. So I won’t know if I could have gotten a lot more brightness by opting for the Fandyfire or real SRK. I’m in the dark here. :frowning:

URLs are allowed, this ain't CPF

DX is honest this time:

Brightness:1220lm

@M3TAL_LORD

I have repeatedly asked DX to confirm whether this is a genuine SkyRay King or an inferior copy. These are the answers I have had:

Dear customer,We should send the correct item to you.It should be the same as the description. The package is still on the way.We can’t do nothing now.Pls wait.

Dear customer,We should send 174986(SKYRAY New-M6 Cree 3 x Cree XM-L T6 1220lm 3-Mode White Flashlight - Black (4 x 18650) ) to you.Pls wait for it now.THanks

Dear customer, Pls wait for the shipment now.You haven’t test it yet.Pls wait and inform us if you get it.Thanks.

Did it come with a security sticker like Xtar says their gonna do here

I haven’t received my shipment yet. Does Xtar have anything to do with SkyRay? Are they the manufacturers?

I’m concerned that, when I take it out of the box, I won’t be able to tell if I’ve been ripped off because I’ve got nothing to compare it to.

Could I have bought a genuine SkyRay King from another store, and gotten a much better flashlight?

Guys, I have now received the fake black SkyRay King from DX.

http://dx.com/p/skyray-new-m6-cree-3-x-cree-xm-l-t6-2500lm-3-mode-white-flashlight-black-4-x-18650-174986

Because of the incessant rain, I haven’t been able to test it properly. I had to wait for some dry night.

I don’t have fancy meters or anything, so I’m just going on user experience. Using the batteries supplied, the torch runs warm. With fresh batteries it starts out pretty bright, about the same as 3 Ultrafire WF-502B flashlights. But that lasts for about 20 to 30 minutes. After that, the brightness dulls very rapidly. After 30 to 40 minutes, it is dimmer than a single Ultrafire WF-502B, and it is running cool. The brightness dims and keeps dimming. I switched it off before it got too dim, as I figured the 18650 cells were unprotected.

I am still waiting for delivery on some high quality 18650 batteries. As soon as I’ve got them, I will repeat the test.

Can someone please tell me, what is the advantage of a real SkyRay King?

How can I expect a fake one to be different?

Thanks!

Tib

The flashlight I bought. It’s got SkyRay King clearly printed on the torch:

http://dx.com/p/skyray-new-m6-cree-3-x-cree-xm-l-t6-2500lm-3-mode-white-flashlight-black-4-x-18650-174986

The flashlights I didn’t buy, because I was too vain to have a metallic urine coloured torch:

http://dx.com/p/fandyfire-uv-s5-xm-l-t6-3-mode-3000lm-3-led-white-flashlight-w-strap-yellow-4-x-18650-120679

Their new offering:

A fancy U2 based clone:

http://dx.com/p/xl-14-cree-xm-l-u2-2400lm-3-mode-white-flashlight-light-golden-1-4-x-18650-188032

And finally, an actual SkyRay King (black) or so they say:

http://dx.com/p/sky-ray-king-cree-xm-l-u2-2000lm-3-mode-white-3-led-flashlight-black-1-4-x-18650-186098

Ladies and gentlemen, are any of these flashlights worthy of my hard earned cash?

Thanks,

Tib

I mean, one with serious brightness. If any of you read the last two posts, you’ll know I’m disappointed with the ‘SkyRay King’ I bought from DX. I’d appreciate if someone would please explain the difference between the fake (with the logo):

http://dx.com/p/skyray-new-m6-cree-3-x-cree-xm-l-t6-2500lm-3-mode-white-flashlight-black-4-x-18650-174986

And the one I should have bought (clone with the proper circuit):

http://dx.com/p/fandyfire-uv-s5-xm-l-t6-3-mode-3000lm-3-led-white-flashlight-w-strap-yellow-4-x-18650-120679

How would I experience the practical difference between the two if I used good batteries?

Thanks!

Tib
