Need driver for 3C Defiant super thrower

I have 2 of these 3C Defiant super thrower lights from this thread. I would like to mod this thing for some real output. I intend to drive the XML (or XM-L2) at 4 to 5 amps using 2 18650’s on a copper sink pad and maybe a copper pill. I seem to be having trouble locating a driver that will truly push that current in a 8.4v configuration. I have seen drivers that claim to push that current but reviewers test say different. Does anyone know of a driver that can be made to fit and push 4 to 5 amps true output. Even one that could be modded to push that current would be fine. I can make the pill fit the driver if its a little bigger than the driver that’s already in it factory (20mm).

Maybe one doesn’t exist.

Give it time.

Is the stock driver 17mm?

It’s too late for me to open up my super thrower. The current version of the driver in the following link was giving me an honest 4.5amps with an xml2 in a Torchlight. I now have driving an MGT2 and its given 4 amps minimum. Supposed to be easy to change output via the sensor resisters. It’s 5 mode with blinkies though, but has memory.

That looks like the DX driver that back in 2011 I tried to find out over at DX, if anyone had the ic’s numbers still visible (wasn’t sanded off). I’m still down there in the comments section. I may just have to give it a try. I have also been looking at this driver but can’t find any where that list or a test the actually current.
Thanks for the info Ima4wheelr.

if the pills deep enough, this is a nice driver

if not. This is a nice driver.
