I have a SOLARFORCE L2 that the Tail-cap switch assembly is not working right… It is time to look for a new flashlight so need help. I have to buy a complete flashlight or drop-in parts. When it comes to working small parts each hand has 15 thumbs and no fingers. Winter months the flashlight is used a lot around the livestock. I would like to stay size wise the same. Would like 1000 lumens with 3 levels of output. Don’t need SOS and strobe. Brand means nothing but cost dose. Need cheap and good if such a light is out there.
Want more flood or throw?
i need throw. looking for a horse you need throw so there eyes light up when light passes over them

I would suggest you to look 3 for three lights:
-Convoy C8 with XPL-HI (Can be configurable to 3 modes with “Biscotti” firmware)
-Jaxman M8 with XPL-HI (Can be configured for Low-Mid-High, asking the seller)
-Emisar D1 (Is a ramping mode flashlight, so, no “modes”, but you can ramp up and down on luminosity, and double click for Turbo)
Take a look around here and on the “market” !

For 90% of my torch work now. I use a “IMALENT DN35”
Which my G,Daughter bought me for Birthday.
Dab of Epoxy in centre of each control button to locate in dark. Simple.
Full power. 2200. with 2 levels below. Most work done on lower levels.
26650 Battery. Fits comfy in hand. Waterproof. Throws a million miles with good spread.
Fits in palm of hand.
and when walking around. I tuck it under\into armpit.
Facing forward and slightly down for walking.
Leaves hands free. and spread enough to cover what you want.
They do a 70 model too, power of 3200 and spreads forever. With good throw.
If you stay off max. they ok heat wise and battery life.
Built in recharger too. Spare battery easy to carry in pocket)
I have 2 + Ultrafire C8’s as well.
1.- is XM-L2 (was Q5) with sm reflector.
Great “pencil beam” throw with some spread.
2.- is XP-l Hi with OP reflector. Good spread with still a good throw.
1- was $8.50AUD del. 2- was $13.75 AUD Del.
Convoy better quality body’s. More exxy.
There is a 3 XM\XP head one kicking about too.
That probably the pick Probably around $25ish?.
Rather than carrying a long handled. Clumsy torch around.
(I have one only) I prefer to carry the second battery in pocket and use a short body torch that fits in palm.
Coupla seconds changes them out.
Another way would be a decent “Headlamp”
there are some good cheaper ones there too with good beams.
Leave hands free for beasts.
If you happy with SF. and can remove base to change battery?.
Just order another end cap and change them over.

One dealer just sent me a new endcap complete. (Skyray S-R5)
No charge . I go back to him.
That torch near 10 yrs old now. still the most comfortable to hold in hand long term.
C8, then. The Convoy C8 is the old standby, and Sofirn makes a nice upgraded copy (side-mounted e-switch).
Should be safe in the fields, then. Horses are much less murderous than I originally thought.
Actually, if you want überthrow, the Convoy L2 is the Queen Of Throw for <30bux.

OP for a similar form factor to your current light you could look at the Thorfire VG10S. I haven’t tried the upgraded version but really like the older version. There is a coupon available on the item page that brings the price down to $18
Can’t go wrong with the Convoy. I carry a Astrolux BLF A6 in 18350 size but I ordered 2 more and I can’t get them to work.
