Adblock plugin for Mozilla works fine for adblocking and it’s free.
I know but its quite heavy as an extension
Heavy in what way? I don’t remember it being a very big download. But you know if you want this software I can’t talk you out of it !

Been using Adblock Firefox/chrome for… 6 or 7 years now on every laptop/desktop I’ve ever worked on or owned.
Well. I decided there was a better solution than paid software…Chrome for normal browsing and for real adblocking, I’ll be installing ABP which blocks ads in firefox and not chrome coupled with noscript.

I agree. I am also very happy with it. ABP - AdBlock Plus. Easy to remove ad-blocking on sites that you want to support or where the ads are interesting... ;)

Yeah, it plays havoc on google searches especially if it has the AD flag next to the link (usually the first 3-4 link hits)
Yeah before AdBlock I used to do the hosts blocking, but got tired of browsers being stupid and always popping up “Connection Errors” because they couldn’t reach the ad hosting site. Fun having 5 ads coming up with errors before the website even loads |(
