I ordered 20. I think the Gen II are smooth on the bottom. The Gen I has a punch press divot on the bottom.

I like the sinkpads for multi-emitter lights where the diameter needs to be ground smaller. They have the extra demarcation lines on them to remind me how much I’ve ground. They also have + / - printed numerous times, so there’s always an indicator no matter how much pad I’ve removed.
For the aluminium 20mm Sinkpads I did not find any performance difference between genI and genII, I am sure that will be the same with the copper ones. GenII did look cheaper (boards looked punched out instead of cut out). I think the sole reason that genII exists is that it is cheaper to make them without compromising performance (which is fair enough :-) ).
