Anybody see anything about this new flashlight company? Their product seems interesting, although some over at the "other" board seem to think they're ripping off some other reputable brands, like Eagletac, but I'm not seeing it. I guess I'm not familiar enough with the millions of brands out there to notice if they are or aren't. It looks like maybe their signature will be the silver alloy shell type thing. Regardless, they look pretty nice but I'm curious about pricing. It seems they should be released later this month. Also, the BD-1 can be equipped with an XM-L per the "other" board thread. The smallest is the BD-0 that takes AAA and is still being reviewed.
Yes. Some nice looking lights. Unclear about pricing. I'm hoping that they fall in the same range as the Jetbeam BC/BA series stuff as that's where they would seem to fit in the market with their feature set. Everyone is already comparing them to those lines already before they are even out. I like the looks a lot better than the Jetbeam though. In any case, Balder will hopefully be sending me some review samples and I'll give a full report. I am not sure which of the models they will be sending me though.
My BD-4 is in HK airport freight center, waiting for the next available flight....should be at 1500h just 6hrs away. Supposed to have shipped out last 3 days ago but got delayed. (should have gotten at the same time as tacticalhid). I guess will get it in 24hrs.
i envy the efficient mail system there in sg. over here its really something else.the package arrives at the central post and takes 14 DAYS for the postal notice to reach here. and thats during the off peak season! thats why im waiting for january for my next purchases to avoid all the hassles.
if the new bd-4 with u2 led throws as good as the m3x or 7g5 im over it. i like its styling. front end looks like one of my dad's zoom lenses.:)
I had forgotten about the BD-0. That sure took longer than expected. Maybe they really wanted to make sure they did this one right because I know they've had samples for months.
the only question which would interest me with this light:
Do Protected Ultrafire 10440's fit or not?
There is no way that this Balder is more efficient than the strong competition (itp a3, worm ss 2012, klarus mix6) or brighter than the tank E09 (in terms of peak brightness). actually i am testing now the Fenix ld01 and the Fenix "looks brighter" (because of its closed beam angle) than worm ss 2012 and also rivals the tank E09 in a certain way .. at least in the first 5-10mins before all lights (except for worm SS!) step down.
I think I would just stick with the SE-1 unless size is absolutely critical. It's still compact and at least you have the benefit of a higher capacity battery. Also, you have the option of going as high as XM-L.
I really like the name "Balder". sounds so much better than "UniqueFire" or "NaitHawk". but when i look at lights, personally, i have to like it by looks already. If i dont like a torch the way it is optically designed (unusual form factor, exotic design, ..), then i will never be inclined to seriously consider its purchase. Sure it's a matter of taste, thanks god.
That's the main reason why i will ever consider for example Balder SE-1 or Sipik SK68 as serious candidates for my collection, although they are immensely popular with the flashlight community (because of price, value, and output. and also some like their designs. different taste!).
If i like the looks (design), then i would be interested in looking into the details (specs, actual performance, reviews, ..).
In RL, with girls and their looks i am not so picky lol :p
