Good luck, and good day to you!
Looks interesting with the rubber grip and dual switch. This combination is nice for finding fluorescent rocks in the evening hours. I certainly like the look of the light, and the pricepoint is excellent under 30 usd.
That said, there are some things that make it less attractive (but probably done to keep the price low?)
6500-7000k colour temp is ~very~ high. Will you offer it in a more friendly colour temprature, in the 4000-5000k range?
no ZWB filter - this means a lot of purple light will be visible, and it is less effective for seeing fluorescent things.
Would like to see more info on the driver efficiency and runtimes (how much is output flat/regulated?)
Any plans for a “pro” version, or upgrade with these points (and a higher price i’m guessing)?
@Lightweightled, I agree with you on all points: re: price and dual UV+white light capability, this will be very welcome since currently my only UV light is the UV-only Lumintop Tool AA2.0 UV. I also like the fact it uses a 21700, will mean a really long runtime for my use cases.
Also agree with you re: the color temperature, even 5000k-6000k would be good, but 7000K is probably going to be awful; also agree that the lack of ZWB2 filter will limit it to very fluorescent things.
My only other peeve, at least so far, is the proprietary UI – as everyone should know by now, I’m very partial to Anduril (and thanks again @Toykeeper for everything you do for us). But from the UI chart in its AliExpress page, at least it doesn’t look too horrible.
I think there would definitely be a market for a pro version with better-CCR white LEDs plus a ZWB2 filter, plus (of course) Anduril.
Disclaimer: I’m currently waiting delivery of one SR23 which @Barry0892 kindly offered me; I will do an unbiased review once I receive it and post the results here on BLF. According to the tracking it’s still about 1 week-10 days out.
Regarding the color temperature, it does not feel like 6500-7000k to my eyes, maybe the tint is distorting my perception, but it feels 6000 or under. I took some photos with the camera set to manual, hopefully they will be useful. You can see them Here
The 3W 365nm UV light is the most interesting part of this flashlight. I’d be curious about using it for detection. Should be an improvement over the small 395nm UV light I have. Neat that it has white light as well for versatility. Thanks for innovating and for the GAW, @Sofirn !
Maybe I’m wrong, but your website shows a light with one darker reflector. Is this due to the color of the emitter, or is there some kind of darklight filter?
I like the bezel. I’m not fond of attack bezels, but this one has less chance of getting damaged. Plus it will prevent me from putting the light on its head and forgetting it was on all of the time.
Of course, one is different. The SR23 has three white LEDs with a TIR optic and a single UV-LED with a reflector. A ZWB2 filter would be awesome, though.
The bezel feels like Aluminum, but I only had a very quick look at it so far.
I got mine yesterday and I’m putting it through its paces.
Some things I like so far:
Size: Incredibly small for a 21700.
Backlit Buttons: I like the dual button UI.
Rubber grip is not needed, but makes it look unique
Some of the things I don’t Like:
Tint: Main flood emitter is noticeably green compared to all my other lights
No Stepped Ramping Option
Notes of Indifference
No ZWB2 filter: Makes it easier to note where you are pointing the light. Nobody seems to ever mention that lack of a ZWB2 can be a good thing. None of the multi-function lights have one (Jetbeam E26, Olight Arkfeld, Wurkkos HD01) and it is likely a valid design choice. I will admit, it is less obvious when florescent objects are hit without the filter but if you need a professional UV light for serious work, get a dedicated light like the Sofirn SF16. Glowy spills and Scorpios still show up with this light.
Check out this pic a buddy of mine took in Phoenix. This is with the Jetbeam E26 for example (note the lack of filter shows UV spill but the job is still done!
