With all of my Frog 3.0, GT Nano Pro and 985 Lumintop flashlights I have glued a neodymium magnet into the recess in the tail. Making them magnetic. The Frog 3.0 is my present EDC because of its size and features. Plus its magnetic tail.
Against my instincts and principles I got this light together with the 10700 tube and battery. Impressive amount of light from such a tiny thing. I really like it with some minor comments.
I miss the possibility of continuous ramping. The moonlight could be dimmer. Hold from moonlight may get to hi if that was memorised, it would be better to arrive to low from moonlight regardless memory. Battery sizes are weird, not sure how much these will be available in longer run. This flashlight badly needs a 10440 tube to be available. The lanyard / keyring hole could be broader. I don’t like metal rings on a flashlight, especially not a weak ring. Atwood Rope’s 1.18mm diameter microcord can just get through the hole.
Just bought a couple 3.0 Frogs from Lumintop and a bunch of tubes from them as well as ILLUMN and the 10440 is for the Frog2.0 that I’m assuming also fits the Frog 3.0. I bought a brass 10440 tube and also what they called brown tube which in assuming is aluminum but finished to look like antique brass in 10440 size.
In my quest on all things Frog related, I came across pics of an all brass Frog which looked like 2.0. Was that a rare special edition as I can’t find any info on it.
Limited version “brass” frog. It has an aluminium body but it is plated with some golden metal (brass?) and finished in such way to have an antique brass look. Looks cool but mine degraded quickly, and because it’s coated you can’t refinish it. Lumintop never made a V1 or V2 frog in nice materials like they did with the GT nano.
Sucks to hear about the fake brass finish wearing off. I know the one 10440 tube I bought straight from Lumintop was that fake brass finish. Maybe I’ll clear cost it with ceramic coat to keep that finish from degrading.
