thing I noticed is it was supplied with flatops. These flat tops are not raised at all so not sure if they are making contact.
It will turn only turn on a low output mode when charging, blue light flashes when charging (This will also flash even of batteries taken out). Light is totally dead when disconnected from charger.
Also charger is working and used supplied usb c cable.
Its either faulty electronics or the flat tops arent making contact.
It should have button tops. If you have even a single button top try it. It should operate on 1 or 2 button tops. Contact the seller and ask if they can send 4 button tops.
Ya I think that’s how they all come now. Everyone I’ve talked to that got a q8 plus since that post say they got flat tops too. I just use molicels in mine now but those flat tops did work. But yours could just be flatter than most.
Does it turn on if the usb is plugged in, with no batteries?
You can put on top a solder blob to raise its positive terminal. Best if you had a strong soldering iron to do it quickly in order to avoid overheating the cell.
I don’t trust small magnets to stay in place when the body of the light is being turned as they make contact with the brass ring. If they slip could they cause a short? Solder blobs, using a high wattage iron and big tip, as 1artein mentioned is about the only solution other than new cells, IMO. Or returning to Amazon
Before you put a solder blob on them, make sure you have the head fully tightened on. It takes a bit of strength to tighten it all the way. Put a little lubricant on the oring, use both hands, and really give 'er.
And when you think you have it tighened all the way, loosen it a 1/4 turn and really give 'er again.
Mine were flat just like that and they did work. Of course, it’s definitely possible you got some extra flat ones, but give that a shot before you solder them. Or get some molicels, the p42a flattops are raised enough to work, and keep those cells for other lights.
