Here is an outstanding beamshot video of the M1 Terminator by Reddit user SiteRelEnby:

It really showcases the practical and fun benefits of a focusable LEP design, coupled with a wonderful high CRI 5000K Nichia 519A triple for flood.

Very nicely done, Acebeam!

4 Thanks

You tube now has a great test of the 5k version, by protechteus, also 16 traces has some good shots of the 6.5k version.
hoping my 5k one will arrive in the next fews days, been told the typhoon has caused delays.

Welcome aboard, GPG58!

Ive had mine about a week and am very happy with it. Exceeded my expectations. Surprisingly compact with a very solid feel. Excellent compact LEP performance with focus ability a joy to use.

with an E70 mini grafted to it, a light i already know and love (5000K Nichia 519a version) for high CRI flood.

I think you’ll really enjoy it, certainly worth the wait.

Have fun and welcome to BLF!

It seems like it’s small enough to become my new “always in pants pocket” torch, sure its bigger than current sofirn IF22A, but seems worth it.
Will be my second acebeam, loving my X75 so far, which although its had a fair bit of use(including by a reviewer 3 times), and its still working great, Unlike my sr32 which had one emitter half dead on arrival (took some effort, but eventually got a replacement head, and kept first one as well, so have packed away new “fully working” one after just a brief test run).

Have looked at forum for some time now, but just got round to joining, site was recommended to me by another member/dealer/reviewer, who’s advice has always been helpful, and given me some great deals (thanks Jacob).

Need one in copper, then I will buy. I do not care about the weight.

I dont think they will be selling any of these.

Just my humble opinion, but i dont think the M1 will qualify as an “always in your pants pocket” solution.

It has a surprising heft to it, 11 ounces / 305 grams to be exact. Same as a stainless steel E70. Although aluminum, it feels rather dense which gives a “built like a tank” vibe: the build quality is superb. Feels like a substantial thermal mass, great for long runtime.
In hand it feels just like a solid copper flashlight.

Downside is i couldnt comfortably carry it in any pants pocket. Jacket would be fine. Theres no clip provision but Acebeam provides a good quality lanyard in the cool plastic Pelican type case it’s packaged in: a nice plus.

The M1’s performance makes it an ideal all-around EDC choice, but it’s a tad bulky and heavy. It’s also a tad nice to be exposed to rough duty and abuse, although its solid quality build and 2M water resistance could probably survive the harshest conditions.

Pictured far above is the $8000 Cool Fall Tri-V, a flashlight I considered selling a kidney on eBay for:
A superbly engineered and built McLaren F1 of full on custom hand crafted flashlights.
Ridiculously out of reach financially, but my ultimate dream light in terms of pocketable EDC performance.

Over a decade of pining later, and the M1 finally grants what I so wished for with the Tri-V, with much greater performance for less than $250 shipped. I just cant slip it into a jeans pocket. It is a sheer joy to use though.
Pricey but worth it.

GPG58, I really hope you enjoy yours.

Agree for many the weight and bulk may be an issue, but me being a “if it fits in, i will take it type” regarding my pockets, it will just mean something else will be left at home now.
My ex military 1990’s long coats with liners i normally wear, weight 2kg+ anyway, so a few extra grams wont matter to me personally.
 I like the solid copper idea, being a retired refrigeration guy, i like copper too.

Just checked, its arrived in country tonight
+1 Ok new to posting here, why is the thumb huge?

GPG58,

My experience was four days from US arrival to my doorstep. Soon, grasshooper, so very soon now

I was genuinely surprised and excited when i heard about the M1. My first LEP was the original Acebeam W30 and I loved it.

Later I got the Amutorch BT55, the first focusable LEP design and found it much more practical use than just an ultra narrow fixed beam.

Then Acebeam announced my ultimate dream LEP: the W50 with 1400 lumens, motorized zoom, and 8x 18650 power for $3k and restricted to government/LE sale only. Unaffordable and unobtainable. Another Tri-V scenario.

Along comes the Loop Universe SK-01, a really fun design compact focusable LEP. Very pricey at $400 and performance hampered by its undersize 18350. I forced myself to say NO.

Out of the blue, Acebeam announces the M1 and it seemed to fulfill my wish list at long last and with discounts it was affordable. So glad I passed on the Loop. The M1 handily outperforms it and gets very generous runtime with its 21700 cell. Im a happy camper.

If Acebeam is reading this, I wish you would follow up with a future focusable LEP with a large head/optics and 700-1000 lumen output. In other words, an affordable and attainable W50 (maybe even with a 46950 battery). Fingers crossed.

Oh, and I think the oversized thumb is a pituitary gland condition. Not to worry.

Just three more days
I’d love to read about your impression

Cheers!

Oh yeah, a mini W50 would be very nice.

Until then I am more than happy with my new M1. I did not predict I would like the focusable LEP that much. And I got high CRI without having to void warranty.

Yeah, is a bit heavy but I dig the design and it replaces 2 separate lights when traveling light, thus making up for its weight. The quality is outstanding.

Hmm

![+1|72x72](upload://2xDlu1tNMLnvrj1F5CvaBavCXWX.png) = a 72 by 72 pixel thumb.
In other words, you uploaded and posted a huge thumb, and that’s why the thumb is huge. :stuck_out_tongue:

Ok. :+1: I Was having laptop pc issues, and it went completely nuts soon after that. (things like shift g, bringing up task master instead of writing a capital G, and many others). Resetting pc keeping files and even a complete reset with windows cloud download didn’t sort it, so now using a spare baby HP laptop. No idea whats up with the acer nitro 5, memory sticks and both ssd and disc check as ok.

This is definitely what Samsung phones do; there’s a persistent notification until the port is dry again.

Thanks  Glad you liked it.

Arrived yesterday, and seems a nice small torch, sure its wider and heavier than my if22a it replaces, but its also shorter, so fits my pocket just fine, along with usual stuff.

Just got back from a beach and forest walk, took it and x75, along with cyansky HS6R headband, which is my favourite light for general walking.
It was a dead clear night, with almost no mist.
Found The M1 is a great wee light on the LED, plenty of grunt on turbo too, and as usual i like the 5k colour(x75 is 5k too).
The LEP is impressive, easily Beats the x75 for range, albeit as only a tiny spot being lit, but as i live in a very large bay, using them from top of a high sand dune, i was surprised how far around beach and treeline was able to be lit up. Think a plane flying over at 1000m coming in to land, was surprised to see the pencil beam heading up to its height(no not aimed anywhere near it of course).
So will be my new always in pocket one, as i expected.

But downsides, already it has turned on in my pocket, even though it was on lock mode(something must have been pressing against button for required seconds), and unscrewing battery cap a turn, doesn’t work, not sure how i can overcome that, i may have to make some type of cover to go over button.
I also find it a little slippery to hold, and would prefer it had more textured surfaces, or a rubber coating.

But overall a great small pocket light, and well worth the money in my opinion.

This little part is a wish made reality for me.

Thanks a million, Ben!

I had the “privilege” of finding this out first hand. I’ve been extremely good about minding my phone, where it’s at on my person
but it took this one time of 2 simultaneous distractions to suspend that mental facility in my head
allowing me to slip into a fresh water chlorinated pool, with my Pixel 5 sitting in my right front pocket. As soon as I hit the water I immediately felt the phone touching against me and leapt out of that water like it was on fire. The very first thing I did was to extract it from its TPU case and hit the power button. It still had power, so I powered it off. I went to a blow dryer in the men’s room and hit my phone’s USB-C port with full blast, hoping to dry it out. After a few minutes, I tried my luck and booted it up. And it did boot just fine
except that I got a warning from the Android O/S saying that moisture was detected in the USB-C port and had effectively been shut off. In all other respects? Phone was working fine. No moisture trickling out of any crevices.

A few hours later, the O/S notified me that “USB-C function has been restored.” And the phone was perfectly fine, back to normal. I think this is part of the reason why phone makers opted to get rid of user replaceable batteries. It significantly isolates openings to the case. And the way the USB-C port is designed, up to a certain amount of water pressure it will resist water creeping inside the case. Even the microphone ports are water resistant.

So, with my 3 year old Pixel 5 having this feature, I imagine more recent USB-C port incarnations have a high degree of water resistance. The covers are basically to help ward off any pesky or corrosive debris.

FireflyLite has a new magnetic USB-C port cover that works brilliantly. Nicely strong, yet easy access. And it obviates the need to unscrew a body tube to get access to a hidden port.
