I decided to temporarily switch out the EDC light I have been carrying for the last 16 months with something different. The Torchlabs/Moddoolar light I have been using for EDC (L3 triple XP-G neutral @ 1000 lumens) is being replaced with a Surefire C2 that has a McClicky switch, a Torchlabs H3 triple CW XP-G 1400 lumen drop-in light engine with H/M/L and has been bored to accept 18mm batteries. I’m using 2 x 18350 AW IMR batteries. Thought I would share a few pics. No beamshots as my camera sucks along with my photography skills sucking.
As soon as Oveready/Torchlabs releases the Moddoolar H3 head I will switch back to the Torchlabs light. It is a perfect, for me. I’m not knocking the C2. It will serve me well until I can change back to my prefered EDC.
The head looks loose because it is/was. I had not put the H3 in the light yet so it was not screwed down tight. It is now. Oveready makes great modded Surefire hosts. Bored and double o-ringed on each end.
Tritium? I won’t bother on this light. But………I already have a couple of these:
that already had trit slots (3) cut into them by Oveready but they are no longer availiable for sale right now. I have not put any tritium vials in them yet. Someday………….
That is some seriously sweet lights you carry around there. Care to tell me if you have ever had any problems with your high end lights?
This no to put them down or anything but serious cash should mean serious performance also when it comes to durability.
My only installed tritium is in a Peu bezel. Got the bezel for $80, doesn’t fit on the newer hds, but it does fit on my bedside light, a Novatac SO modded with a nuetral XML
My Torchlabs/Moddoolar EDC (the one in the pics) has been carried as a EDC for 16 straight months in my pocket. Not one single problem. I have 5 other Torchlabs/Moddoolar lights that are similar but have both longer and shorter tubes for various battery combinations. My absolute favorite “C” size P60 compatable set of lights. Worth every penny. Field tested by yours truely.
scaru hit the nail on the head. The Moddoolar light “system” includes battery tubes that require an adapter to use a Surefire type head. You will see in the picture I have a Torchlabs L3 head on it that screws right on it. They make adapters for use with “C”, “M” and “E” Surefire type heads with their tubes. The Triad tailcap can be fully customized (they even have a pre- machined version for tritium vials) and is lego-able.
The Torchlabs H3 drop-in IS fully P60 compatable. The Torchlabs/Moddoolar head on the other light is for Moddoolar tubes only. Biggest advantage to that is they are 3/8 of an inch shorter than the standard Surefire Z44 bezel and have great heat sinking. The Z44 has virtually none.
