Im new to all this and have usually just gone out and purchased flashlights from box stores.
Recently in our rural neighbourhood has been some strange goings on.
As i hardly know anything and just begun searching this site, is there anything like the AceBeam W35 that new and available? I did read up on Sofirn IF22 but they dont make those anymore.
I like the features of that light, long throw to see far (as I might need that) also option to have good spill but go far as if theres something i need to really light up and startle thats 50-100 meters away i might be able to see what or who it may be!
I also will use it to search around in the woods and countryside to scan roads and such when driving in the dark, camping etc.
Im looking for something sub $200 if possible that meets throw range with good light (5K) and good throw and bright when spotlighting. I just cant spend 4-500 dollars on a flashlight.
Thanks for joining the party, Vanguy16!
You want a light with one SFT40 emitter and a traditional reflector (aluminum would be better than orange peel for throw.)
That’ll give you plenty of throw with some usable spill.
The larger the diameter of the head of the flashlight, the more throw you should get.
My favorite budget brands are Convoy, Sofirn, and Wurkkos.
They offer the most bang for your buck.
Convoy offers the best selection of emitters and tints, meanwhile Sofirn and Wurkkos generally have better user interfaces.
If you decide to get a Convoy, I prefer the ones that take a single 21700 cell and have a side e-switch.
Check out the M21 (medium) and L21 (large) series.
The L21 series only has tail switches, but they throw like crazy.
