Looks like Nichia has a XHP70.2 competitor in development, NV9W149AM
- 9-die 9V
- more efficient than XHP70.2 (or rather: just as efficient with 50% more output)
- nearly-flat dome
- CRI 90 available
Looks like Nichia has a XHP70.2 competitor in development, NV9W149AM
looks nice! let’s hope it’ll be released and is available soon.
Cool, interested. Would be a good match for for those 3x18650 lights, like amutorch am30.
Edit: it’s not 50% more efficient when you consider it’s 9V instead of 6V for the XHP70.2.
Nichia sets enormous limits for distributors. I afraid as many other leds this one also wont be easy for purchase.
I’m curious about the footprint.
Very small thermal pads. :person_facepalming:
This has 10.31 mm²
XHP70.2 6V has 26.36 mm²
XHP70.2 12V has 35.13 mm²
XM-L has 13.44 mm²
Also, quite thick ceramic base.
It looks nice at first glance!
In my eyes the biggest bummers are:
The XHP-35 HI does up to 49W with a 4.11mm^2 thermal pad. So it should be good enough for most applications.
On the thermal pad not only size metters its how effecive the base is connected to the dies
The outer parts of XHP70 thermal pad will have almost no effective heat transfer
Maybe I get that dead one and sand it down step by step and post pictures
I think it would be a nice LED for headlamps. They don’t need good focus, they don’t need top output, but they need high efficacy. And this looks like the top choice.
It could fit the Virence VR16S1 Star with scratching.
And as driver it would work with 4S Buck-Driver like it is in the GT.
Haikelite MT07S could be a good host for it.
Always interested in new emitters whether they end up useful to us or not.

Highlights:
It may not be so good after all.
This is an 9 x e21 in one package without border
